Movies should be such that they change you, a part of you, touch you or a part in you, make you cry, laugh, sing its tune, whistle, make you one with the character, make you think about it when its been 10 years you saw it and still a similar event makes you relate to it.
In all, a good movie should become 1 with your good memory. Sometimes some characters do that, sometimes, some actors do that, sometimes its just the story u remember, not the characters, and sometimes its just the music itself. whatever it is, it has a magical effect on you....
I have seen more than hundreds of movies , but still this is just a try to cut out 10 that affected me the most, it reflects a part of my personality too...
I will just say about the qualities of each and not the plot of most, as I fear, lest someone watch the review and miss the surprise in some of the films...
so here it goes
1) The shawshank Redemption
Wowwwie most story, wowwie most action, wowwie most direction. Its a movie on Hope, on being positive, on persevering and on being cool. Its a story where life isn't fair, infact very unfair, and yet, how you can beat every1 out of your worst nightmare. The best and most inspiring movie I have ever seen since life is beautiful and dead poets' society. but the bestest of all.... love you andy dufrense and love you red.
must must must watch.
Hope is a good thing, infact the best of things, and no good thing ever dies..........
2)Life is beautiful
A beautiful movie which says why life is beautiful. You need beautiful eyes to see this life and thats all. If you are positive, it doesnt matter what work you do, you might be the luckiest lover and the bestest father. Wowwww story, wow acting. This is a film I remember for the actors simplicity and a rich approach to the characters life. It will make you laugh all the way till the end. beautiful life doesnt have to be in the richest places, far from it..... lovely movie, , must watch both of the above, for any1 who hasnt watched them. must must must watch....
3) School of life
Rising up to expectations is not that much easy, living upto them is hardest thing, and living in someone's shadow especially a parent's , and doing it is almost impossible. Not quite so, when someone else comes along the way and teaches you to know why you are so lucky, and see this life as a bliss..... aahh, , not so inspiring, but will change your scheme of thinking.
4) A walk to remember.
Life is so very very precious. And you dont know one till you meet one. You fall in love, and that love may not be yours forever, it changes you forever. and believe me, true love almost always makes 1 better. Another wow movie.
Must watch.
5) Godfather (part2)
marlon brando. I hated him before I saw the godfather and I loved the movie because I loved the book too. Wonderful story, acting and direction. I dont want it to teach you to be a gangster, and be a very shrewd and smart one, no no no.. relax... I want you to enjoy the acting of two greats, , marlon brando, , and al pacino who too deserved the oscar, , I liked him more, , I always liked michael more anyways... no hard feelings for oscar jury...!!!
must watch just to enjoy the intensity.
6) You've got mail and French Kiss
I am in love with meg ryan eversince I saw - you have got mail. Such a sweetiepie.... A mushy mushy film, which is comedy too and realistic also. I liked her much more in these two movies than in when harry met sally ( which was rather a boring movie).
How often we trust the people whom we have never met, but met online/virtually, and tell them everything??
Second film is another romantic comedy, a heart break a romance a true love. We always like what kills us, and in the process we forget to see so many lovable people around us. We run after that illusory person, thinking him to be the god/goddess for us, and often end up in harming our hearts and ourselves in the process.
True love never hurts, true love never pains. Biggest of sacrifices are made easily with a smile. If you find the true love of your life, you might as well die for it, but it wont let you!!! another wonderful mushy movie. Lots of things could have been better in the dialogues category, but if you are good at reading between the lines it should be good for you.
7) Castaway and Forrest Gump.
I love tom hanks more than meg ryan, but I am not gay!!!! Castaway is a movie that tells you there is more to life than success, , and once you know it, you know success as well. Dont be a rat in a rat race, running here and there, running running running, , meeting deadlines, staying in the rut, , , , , , no no no, , , God doesnt give everyone same chances, , so make the most of your moments, savour each of them.... and give yourself sometime to breathe... must must must watch movie = castaway.
Forrest Gump is for atypical ppl like me. I still dont know why I liked it, but I did. It was simple story of a rather dumb/idiotic person. It told me, that if you are honest in life, life will take care of you!!!( I have my own doubts, and doubts kill more people than real agonies)... also, the way the boy with crutches on both legs gets the strength n courage to run, , from a fearful situation, , that was the wow moment of the movie....Fear, producing courage, and courage producing miracle!!!! ahaaa it can only happen in this life...
good things always happen to good people.
8) God must be crazy
i tell you it is.... a very funny movie, simple story , with animals and tribals of africa. A simple man who has nothing is more rich just because he lives his life. His riches include his two sons, and are they cute? I know the most beautiful child in this world, and I can bet every parent has atleast 1!!!
Yes god must be crazy, I felt this more so after this film. Fun to watch, clean movie. Must watch again.
9) The good , the bad and the ugly..,
i never liked client eastwood in any other movie, but I loved him in this one. Its an action western cowboy movie, of horses, n dacoitary n skills.
The quick and the dead and the crimson tile also compete in their own ways. What I liked about this movie?? the music... so very magical, , , perhaps everyone in MS knows the music. It has a charm of its own. otherwise a simple movie, hero villain and the baddie.
10) Notting hill and Pretty woman.
there are lots of other movies that I have fallen in love with, the reason they dont find space here is that these perhaps appealed to me more.
The last two in this group I like because of julia roberts. A very very powerful actor.
notting hill is more of a soft story about an ordinary man falling for a hi-fi woman, and how this love doesnt meet the end we usually can expect, same is with pretty woman but the other way around, a richie rich businessman falls for a pretty woman!!! I loved julia in step mom and erin brokowich too, but best was with hugh grant in notting hill, a funny movie, a thin thread to connect it, and you dont know how it ended.
