Movies... Masti... Magic...

What else does one need on weekends? Same here, give me a bunch of movies, and im glued to em.. shake me, wake me, lure me with a cake, I aint shying away if I love the flick! From the zillions of movies, its pretty tough to choose a few.. But, I gave it a try and here are the ones I recommend...

PS -This list might not feature the usual, Box office hits or the usual favourites of the masses... Its a list of my favourites. (Some may be partly unknown that go unnoticed but are just adorable, with a few exceptions)

Drama/Thriller/Suspense

1) Shawshank Redemption - Well, nobody can prepare a list without considering this flick, Tim Robbins in the role of a lifetime, the flawless acting, Tim and morgan freeman, with a surprisingly happy ending, to an intense drama, bags it into the top list of any movie-lover.. The best thing, the Ending, to be able to overwhelme the audiences in such a manner, is just commendable.. Hats Off..

2) Another one that steals the show, The Green Mile. Tom Hanks, need I say more? An act apart, a classic piece of movie-making together with the brilliance of Tom and the Director, Frank Darbont, creates a masterpiece on the silver screen. A fantasy tale, that teleports you into the magical world of hollywood.

Romance

A genre for all, some laughter, the flair of romance between the couple, and some intense tear-jerking moments, dialogues, the chemistry between the leads, stays the essence of a romance flick.

Out of the innumerable flicks, like A walk to remember, Something's gotta give, Notting Hill, and a zillion others, pretty hard to decide and I end it on....

3) Someone like you, the Adorable Hugh Jackman, and Ashley Judd, they are just inseparable.. I dont know why, but I just love this one... have seen it lots of times, but I still play it once in a while.. Classic romance..

4) If Only, a beautiful love affair between the beautiful Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Paul Nicholls, with a fictional twist in the plot, this one is just beautiful. Touchy, Mushy and very romantic!

5) Love actually, another classic Romance. A mix and match of totally different couples, and its just immensely adorable, that you just feel the romance! A love story for all ages, adorable and endearing!

Action/Adventure

Again, a pretty tough genre to be able to decide a winner, so my picks would be -

6) Terminator 2 - Judgement Day- The genius of a man, James Cameron provides for one superb flick, that defies any rules of action, yet its so much believable and exciting. One of the few, sequel flicks, that clicked so well in hollywood, a class apart. Released in 1991(Where new-age animation and computer graphics were prehistoric, this one beats most of the recent action movies, by miles in its stunts and action sequences.

7) Full Metal Jacket - Cannot be termed as an Action movie, its a mix of action plus drama, and its a sheer joy. Just go through the first half an hour, and it just takes you with the flow. Some invincible dialogues and some classy acting, makes it a "Dont Miss" flick for sure!

Sports

Not much to say, as only one flick comes to my mind in this genre!

8) And the indisputed winner is Million Dollar Baby, watch this movie once and you would know the power in a Eastwood film, Hilary Swank, Morgan Freeman, Clint Eastwood, all three bagged an oscar in the respective genres, and one can guess why. A stunner, that leaves an infinite impression on you. Cannot be missed!

Family/Sci-Fi

9) Wall E- The futuristic romance between the cute Robots "wall-E & E-va" is just adorable. Havent seen such an awesome flick in such a long time. The adorable sounds, those touching moments, heart-warming scenes, its one movie, that steals your heart anytime you watch it.

Animation

10) Monsters Inc.

Out of some very nice animation, like Toy Story(1 & 2), Finding Nemo, The incredibles, and some others, this one is my favourite. It was just amazing, to be able to think of such a unique theme, and such lovely characters, that lights up the audience, with pinches of beautiful scenes, this is one animation, that is just classy. Go watch it if you haven't yet.

Some Special recommendations

Thriller/Suspense

The Number 23- Heard of it? No? Well, it starrs Jim Carrey, yeah and the genre is right, it is a thriller, and I just loved the plot, and the suspense. Gives out nothing, and it just pulls you

And Hannibal Rising- The best gory movie I have ever seen. This has class, dark but amazingly interesting, and captivating!

Silence of the lambs - I personally adored this flick, the Name of the movie, ahhh... its just true genius! You wont guess it untill halfway, and its one helluva flick!

Animation

Kung Fu panda - Another classic animation, with a classy plotline.

International

Il Mare(The Korean original of the Keanu Reeves starrer The Lake House), very refreshing indeed! Fantasy, but very enjoyable! And of course, My Sassy Girl(Korean, not the english one!)

Fantasy

The Butterfly Effect, A very unique and vague concept, but I found it immensely interesting and enjoyable!

That's it. All's Well that ends in the Well. :-) Hope the recommendations help!

B Happy!
