Good bye 2005 and welcome 2006. Happy New Year 2006 to bollywood and all the MSians.

In general the quality of movies made in 2005 was great. 2003 and 2004 were great too. Music Directors, Editors, Cinematographers are doing a great job and raising the bar of quality movies every year. I did watched lots of movies this year and most of them in cinemas. I hate watching movies on DVD. After reading reviews by fellow members here, thought of adding my Ten best too. So, here are my top 10.

10. Tango Charlie

Director: Mani Shankar

Genre: Terrorism

ing: Bobby Deol, Ajay Devgan

Plot Summary: This is a hard-hitting film that exposes the internal problems India has and tells us the tough life of a soldier.

Why I liked: It brings out lot of internal problems India has. There has to be a solution to all these critical problems if India has to leap ahead and become a developed nation. Superb acting by both Bobby Deol and Ajay Devgan.

Few things I did not liked: Tanisha and Nandana Sen's role. Director being partial to some of the issues.

9. Apaharan

Director: Prakash Jha

Genre: Drama

ing Ajay Devgan

Plot Summary: kidnapping industry in the heartland of Bihar and the tactics they use to get political advantages.

Why I liked: great subject and director being too honest. Excellent acting

8. Socha Na Tha

Director: Imtiaz Ali

Genre: Romance

ing Abhay Deol

Plot Summary: When you fall in love, you will know it.

Why I liked: Terrific dialogues and great acting by Abhay Deol.

7. No Entry

Director: Aneez Bazmee

Genre: Comedy

ing: Anil Kapoor, Fardeen, Salman, Bipasha

Plot Summary: Seedha Saadha apna Anil wants to expose the extra-marital affairs of dashing Salman. Salman ulta sends apna seedha saadha Anil into No Entry zone for a bumpy ride.

Why I liked: screenplay was top quality. a very funny movie

6. Vaah Life Ho to Aisi

Director: Mahesh Manjrekar

ing: Shahid, Amrita Rao, Sanjay Dutt

Plot Summary: Yamraaj comes to earth to help a hard working youngster and his family.

Why I liked: Mr. India is my favourite movie and after a long long time a movie that is similar to it with extra zhing of sfx. mindblowing stuff.

5. Kalyug

Director: Mohit Suri

ing: Kunam Khemu, Amrita Singh

Plot Summary: MMS, Prostitution how it all works and how its been outsourced from India.

Why I liked: Hard hitting and right time for such a movie. Amrita Singh is back with a bang.

4. Iqbal

ind: Shreyas Talpade

Plot Summary: How hard working and talented Iqbal makes entry into the national cricket team.

Why I liked: It's just straight from heart. Great job Kukunoor sahab.

3. Lucky

Directed by: Radhika Rao, Vinay Sapru

Genre: Musical / Drama / Romance

ing: Salman Khan and Sneha Ullal

Why I liked: Fairy taleish touch. excellent acting by Salman Khan and Sneha Ullal. mindblowing photography and music.

2. Hanuman

Directed by: Milind Ukey

Genre: Animation

ing: Hanuman voice by Mukesh Khanna

Plot Summary: Jai Bajrang bali.. the life of god Hanuman.

Why I liked: I always enjoyed watching any movie on god Hanuman. There were so many comic incidents in the life of Hanuman and they keep me very interested. So, with world class animations and excellent story at hand this movie was always a winner.

1. Bose - the forgotten hero

Directed by: Shyam Benegal

Genre: Drama

Plot Summary: The film, which is about the last five years of the Indian leader Subhas Chandra Bose's life, also includes his life's story in flashback sequences. However, it does not cover the controversy surrounding Bose's death.

Why I liked: In line with his most popular TV serial discovery of India, Shyam Benegal comes up with a gem of a movie. Not political, not preachy. Shyam Benegal clearly made a movie to help people understand the life and times of Subash Chandra Bose. Acting was great and excellent music by AR Rahman. A clean intention and a great effort by Shyam Benegal.
