1.) My Brother Nikhil

My Brother Nikhil is a movie that can be added to the Must See list or a collection at home. A great film with outstanding star cast and a brilliant script. The one song in the movie ''Le Chale'' was really good and is perfectly set in the movie. A family at peace with itself - barring the usual conflicts that affect all of us - finds solace in distance and agony in nearness when their son contracts a virus.

There is a dollop of melodrama when the sick son realises his new place in a social hierarchy with no space for victims of the virus. But then the movie finds its pace, subtly conveying a message through a haunting song and the son's exploration within himself.

Neither inspired by a Hollywood source, nor didactic and sermonic ''My Brother Nikhil'' manages to convey its social message on the stigma of an AIDS victim in firm but soft tones. My Brother Nikhil can be described simply in one word. That is wonderful!

2.) Page 3

Page 3 has emerged as dark horse overtaking stupid biggies like Blackmail, Insaan, Vaada, Laloo Prasad Yadav and Elaan. I have watched Page 3 twice already and think it is one of the most fabulously realistic and sensible film made in recent times.

Page 3 I should say is a well crafted movie. Good music, relevant music, most importantly and some catchy dialogues all in all a good movie to watch. You really can't sleep tight for latest two days after watching the movie. I being one of those avid readers of Page 3, felt all this was very shocking, the way people are.

I feel that we are living in such an artificial world. The movie was good and depressing at the same time. Many characters like the writer, the ACP gave us an instant impression of the people they suited the best in real life. All in all a well crafted movie.

Boman Irani was at his best I should say. Excellent work. Deserves an award for his performance. Sandy Mridul, Atul Kunkani did their roles well. Not to forget the most important character Konkana Sen Sharma, surely she gave her best performance of her life she should win an award for her work.

3.) My Wife Murder

When I saw that small slap that made Suchitra die, I knew I am going to watch a movie that is full of performances by Anil Kapoor. True, this is one of the best movies of Anil Kapoor ever made till date. Ram Gopal Verma is known to make different genres of movie & this is one of a kind.

Ravi (Anil Kapoor) belongs to a small middle class family trying to create an existence for him. His wife Sheela (Suchitra) constantly suspects him to be having an affair with her Assistant Reena (Nandana Sen). The only job Ravi does is his editing studio with his Assistant. Once their fight took an ugly turn when Ravi raises her hand at Sheela. Her head hits the bed & she dies in the spot. He has to act fast before every one else arrives at home.

The rest of the movie follows all the trials of his along with his kids with the Police whereas Reena plays a dutiful Assistant helping him in every step he takes. Boman Irani as the Police Inspector does a nice job so as Rajesh Tandon as the live in boy friend of Reena.

Debutante director Jijy Philip does a brilliant job. Never once you will feel that the movie has been directed by a newcomer. The last ten minutes of the movie is brilliant. Amar Mohile's background score is very nice.

Anil Kapoor has gone into the skin of the character & delivers one of the finest performances till date. I saw Anil Kapoor in Om Jai Jagdish, Rishtey, and Armaan three movies that he excelled as an actor. If there are two Actors that have the range and the depth-that would be him or Urmila Mantonkar.

4.) Yahaan

I should really tell about Jimmy Shergill ( The most underrated actor in Bollywood), he is a wonderful actor, and he proves that again, the role seems to suit him well, he has played it superbly.

This was not another annoying love story. It was refreshingly different the moment when they meet is magical as well as hilarious. The chemistry between Manisha and Jimmy seemed so real that I was basically rooting for them all the way. The moment when they escape from terrorists and are talking while laying next to each other was simply BEAUTIFUL!

The second half gets a bit boring but the movie, the beauty and the romance in the movie makes it worth watching over and over again. We can expect more high quality cinema from Shoojit Sircar in the future. In Yahaan he has shown us the humane side of the Indian armed forces and the commendable job they are doing while putting their lives on the line.

5.) Tango Charlie

What a great film? Bobby Deol has given superior performance followed Ajay and Kelly Dorjee. But person with weak heart should not watch this because violence is at its peek. Take the scene in the beginning where a soldier is cut off and tied in a tree. What a frightful scene!!

I was simply boggled!! But yet very realistic! The reaction was just tremendous when KELLY was killed by Ajay in the river. Manishankar proved his directorial skills once again in this film. Say yes to Tango Charlie for good cinema.

For the first time I am seeing a real Indian war movie this is a hard-hitting film that Exposes the brutality, the mindsets, the ugliness, and the cold-heartedness. Movies like Border, LOC, and Lakshya seem to exceedingly glorify and glamorize War. This film would have been better if some of the songs were edited out.
