Ease of use : Installs in a jiffy. Software is on a small mini cd that installs very easily without any bother. You can be up and surfing in a matter of minutes.

To check your usage click on ’ SetUp’ Icon on your TATA-Indicom dialer, then click on ’ Network’ and then on ’Show Internet Log’   This will show you a daily report on your usage, download / upload as well as your minutes used details.   Remember-This shows the usage only on the computer that you are using.   NOTE : If you use your device on a different computer or a different laptop it will show the usage of that machine only on that machine and not the total MB downloaded or minutes used in all.
This device is no big deal nor does it take rocket science to understand. Its just a slim little USB Pen drive kind of a device that has a slot where you slide in a basic TATA Indicom SIM Card - Yes, its all based on the CDMA wireless spectrum that services their mobile telephones.

Minimum package available is Rs.300/- for 600 minutes of usage (10 hours per month) and 40 paise for every minute thereafter ( Rs.24/- per hour) which is really not good enough Because speeds are really sad and its the www ( wait wait wait ) that gets on my nerves. They have a speed Plus software available on www.tataindicom.com as a remedy to this. I have just downloaded and installed this..Hope it improves the speeds ( I sincerely doubt it )

If you go for a hogher package of about minimum Rs.500/- per month you get 0.5 GB of data download and Rs.2/- per MB of download over and above your monthly limits. You also get to send and recieve sms from your computer (chargeable at actuals Rs.1/- for local and 1.5 for national and 5/- for International)

I am still trying to register my account as a new user online so that I may be able to check on my current usage till date..but sadly that too hasn’t happened as yet. So how do I know how much of time I have left in my account..for all that we know..they will be overcharging us ?

You can also make and recieve voice calls from your computer/laptop (again chargeable at actuals)

Data transfer speeds are no great shakes but suffice to say that you are online seamlessly across the country without any hassles of wires, cables, modems, settings, user names or passwords or any fancy configurations.

And yes, works on both Windows 98 SE and upwards based desktops as well as laptops (not for Apple Macs- Sadly)

Till we have something better - guess we can survive with this.
