This review pertains to TATA WiMax in Bangalore (Whitefield)

So far this has been the most hassle free connection I have had in this area. I received an SMS advising me that I would receive a special package because of the company I work for last Tuesday. On Thursday I had someone at my office waiting for me to sign up and pay a two month advance.
Saturday Morning I had someone at my house fixing the outdoor areal on my water tank. And a half hour after that I was surfing away!

Now I’m surfing on 1 mbps connection with downloads that are as fast as my BSNL2mbps ADSL connection. The plus here is that I have unlimited downloads and next time someone decides to dig up the road or it rains too much my connection won’t be down for a week! I still have to hook up the connection to my home network but a quick search on Google tells me it’s not that difficult to do.

The only thing I don’t like about it is that you have to login to your account each time you boot up your computer unless you have a router and static IP, but this seems to be common across all providers in India be it Reliance, BSNL orTATA (VSNL).

I think most people would agree that today you can’t expect customer service staff to trouble shoot all the problems on your own network or PC. If you can get them to sort out any problems they have on their end then one should be satisfied with that. In this case as long as I am getting a good signal / speed and TATA’s DNS servers are functional that’s about all I expect from them. I’ll update this post if anything changes drastically... but I’d say go out and get this connection with your eyes closed.
