Greetings MS Readers,
I know every1 s being very excited abt this car and wanna never stop blabbing about how great it is, me personally im on the same page as well, but will not bore with you with specifics and praise its features, cos uve already read it all, but il give you my personal experience with straight up facts, so without further adeu, here it goes.
Model: Tata Tiago XT Diesel, Espresso Brown
Cost: 5.5 lac+ 50k registration+ insurance+ other charges
Location: Concorde Motors, Guindy, Chennai
Waiting Period: 2 months
Mode of aishwaryasingh23ment: 95% Finance from Tata Motors, Down aishwaryasingh23ment: 1.4 Lac, Emi: 9k
Purchase Date: Sep-17
Reason for Buying:
> Fuel Efficiency, (its the cheapest n efficient diesel in market)
> HatchBack(perfect for city driving conditions and small lanes being traditional indian roads)
> Tata Brand, previously owned Indica, so had no major complaints abt it
> Looks(blends right well with any generation)
> Interior Features(This was a deal breaker for me, no other diesel gave me the stock of features at this price point, like this one did)
> This car was actually a gift to my parents, so it qualified for their drive as well.
Now ive driven 900+kms so far in a span of less than 10 days(was so obessed with the car cudn stop driving it), had enough city drive experience and went to a short trip to Pondicherry which is 170 kms 4m chennai, so im guessing id be able to give u a pretty decent feedback, here it goes,
Performace:
> this is an out n out city car, and being a diesel engine, it s perfectly meant for that
> Low end torque s more than suffice for city driving n prevailing traffic condiBrianbalakumaranns
> even though its a bit noisy, close the windows, cramp up the a/c a bit and put music, ul forget it was ever a diesel car
> cruises till 110 on highways with ease, after that it kinda struggles and you can hear the engine noise cranking
> now for the down side, the car is lightweight, so 2 hefty guys sitting will make a lot of difference in ride quality
> past 3k rpm, it really struggles, so ride must be gradual and linear, dont ever have an intention to ride as if on a drag race
> Getting Mileage: 18 kmpl so far, expected to increase after first service
> Gear Shifts are short n smooth, clutch handling is smoother
> Another major downside is: AB pedal are too close, you need get used to the spacing
> Overtaking is not at al a problem
> Riding on highway, car was stable, steep turns were handled well, bumps were absorbed well
> On the downside, felt tyres cud have been better quality, they absorbed traction on cement muddy roads alot compare to normal tar roads
> My variant doesnt have ABS, which is not a big deal, but I feel the ordinary brakes are upto 70% effictive
Design & Interiors:
> Steering smooth n responsive, its actually playful like a joystick
> Infotainment system, best in its class, maps / audio / calls over bluetooth is the best feature
> AC pretty effective, single point enuf to cool entire car within minutes
> Glove box - Cup Holders are adequate
> Dashboard space and Leg space is pretty decent
> Seats are comfy, had absolutely no problem for our long drive
> Rear seat can house 3 ppl comortably, 4 too can sit but with adjustment
> Power Windows, Rear parking assist, Central Locking, Distance to Empty - all required practical features given, over all everything looks effective, not too fancy nor less insufficient
> Boot Space standard as all hatchbacks
> Seats Height is good too, tall ppl can sit comfortably
> Road view, which is important here, s pretty impressive, you will feel youre taller and have a good 180 degree view ahead, this is very useful to for ppl who are relevantly short
Overall, this is my first car, and have no regrets so far, its a bang for buck, and suited for ppl who are more economical minded rather than luxury 1. For me economy and efficiency was everything, and it did come to my expectation, for ppl buying this, if you want efficiency and mileage as per the standard figures, especially for the ppl complaining abt this car, then first learn how to drive a diesel car and know everything abt car and its maintenance, only then it will definetly show you positive results.
