I looked at this Vehicle because I needed a larger vehicle capable of use both in city and highways. This vehicle meets all requirements. Having tried both Xylo and Scorpio I finally settled for the Grande. The Space and comfort are excellent.
Pickup and fuel efficiency much better than expected. The external finish surprisingly good for a TATA Product. I selected the GX version and the equipment fit is good. Although would have preferred the option of a DVD Player. The rear seat i.e the third row of seat is extremely comfortable with best of class leg space. Would have been better if the third row was also split, would have allowed some luggage space. Engine is surprisingly very quite, and very responsive (I of course do not intent rallying with this vehicle), The biggest negative is quality of finish both on the dashboard and the door locks.
The Horn could have been slightly louder. Under normal driving conditions the breaks are very effective. Have pushed the vehicle to speeds upto 140 Kmph with a load of 8 people andbehaviorof the vehicle was exemplary. The grande is equally comfortable to drive both within the city and on highways. I am personally very happy with my investment on the SUMO GRANDE GX. I wish Tata's would have just named it Grande.

I have been reading a lot of criticism of the vehicle inresponse to my review. A lot of owners have expressed anguish with their cars. All I can say is now I have owned the vehicle for 7 Months and have done Eight Thousand Kilometers. My last trip was of 2500 Km, Delhi - Jaipur - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer - Bikaner - Jaipur - Delhi. I touched speeds of 150 Km, and on stretches did averages of 115 Kmph. This is my ninth vehicle over last 25 years. My admiration for the vehicle remains unaffected. Though I would like to add that the experience with different service stations have been different. These days I get my car serviced with A One Motors on Rama Road New Delhi, Having found them most satisfactory.
Regarding Breaking though the brakes are good but the feeling the drives gets on sudden braking at high speeds can be scary. In other words the brakes though efective do not give you confidence.
I have been maintaing a log of the vehicle and I am happy to report even in Delhi driving I get fuel efficiency of 11 - 11.5 km. Highway driving below speeds of 100 have got averages of about 12.5 and above 100 Kmph about 10.8 - 11.6

Well I have finished One year with this Car including a 4000 Km trip to Leh and Beyond. I thank myself for not listening to all the alarmists and going ahead with the purchase. I Stand by my earlier comments and would like to recommend the car any one looking at the Grande as an option .
The Drive to Leh and Pangong Tso was through all kinds of roads Good , Bad and Downright ridiculous. The Grande performed very well and I waspleasantlysurprised to notice that this was the vehicle of choice at Leh. We also crossed the Zoji la and Changla Passesen-route.Irrespectiveof the gradient of climb or the quality of road the performance was much better than I could have hoped for. We had a very comfortable and safe trip. Kudos to Tata motors for the Car. Till date no expenses on car except for the standard servicing and oil changes and a broken door mirror.

Finished 27000 Km on the vehicle. no additional maintenance, have since done trips to Nainital, Ranikhet and of course a lot of City Driving. Still getting wonderful service from the vehicle fail to understand the bad press. Personally I am very happy with the vehicle. Would still recommend it to every one. Fuel Efficiency still 10.4 -10.8 in city and 12 in city.
