I bought a Tata Indigo TDI sedan in December 2005. When I took delivery, it had problem of front right window spurting out of the grove and you have to hold the glass and close the window. That problem is still there and I am living with it. I got the window motor changed after I bought it in warranty but it went back to the old story after some time. Now also I try to correct it at the service centre, they change some window hooks but the problem is still there. It may get corrected if  I change the motor and the grooves. I have left it like that. The car has done 45000 Kms.

The current problem I am facing is low pick up. I am struggling with the service centre guys to get it corrected without having to replace the diesel injection pump. After getting it serviced at concorde motors bangalore the pick up is better. But still the car stalls at low speeds with A.C. Looks like soon I have to change the diesel injection pump which costs around Rs 37000.  Parts do not last for the life time of the car and important parts like the diesel injection pump start creating problems at half the life time of the car.

Tata has recommended life of the car for 1 lakh kilometres. The car gave a mileage of 15 Kmpl of diesel in city when the condition was good. With the current diesel pump problem with reduced pickup the mileage has dropped to 13 Kmpl in city.Service is poor. Work is judged by the human feeling and scientific measurements are not done. For e.g they dont have anything to measure torque the engine develops at specific rpm. I had a hard steering problem. I ended up changing the power steering pump which was not required. The problem was with the roller joints that hold the front wheels.I had an A.C discharge tube burst and had to replace it and get the gas filled.I had to overhaul the alternator.Dont get wheel alignment, Balancing at any of the Tata Service centres in Bangalore. Get it done outside at a tyre shop.Sales in Bangalore of Tata cars has dropped as you get better cars with better service options. Still these guys struggle to service the lower share of cars in Bangalore.Car was good till 20000 kms. After that one problem after another starts coming. You end up going to  the service centre every 3000 kms although the service schedule is every 10000 kms. Concorde, dairy circle, Bangalore guys take the car only for full service. They wont take the car for one problem.K.H.T motors, Bangalore take the car for one problem but they dont do a complete job. They give the car without completely solving the problem or by creating a new problem. Once they gave me the car without tightening the bolts and nuts after doing a work. I had to revisit after noise started coming. They put some other oil for power steering instead of the prescribed one. The colour was different.I sometimes had to take the car to coimbatore to get some problems corrected at autozone, coimbatore. I have spent Rs 40000 more on correcting problems, overhauling and replacing parts apart from the normal service expenditure.

Its a pain having and maintaing a Tata car. If you have lot of time, money and energy to keep on revisiting the service centre you can buy a Tata car.I have written review on concorde motors bangalore and K.H.T motors bangalore. Also read them.
