After purchasing my Vista quadrajet VX in 2012, I waited for over three long years to check the performance and consistency of my favorite Vista. I had done exhaustive research on then available diesel hatchback cars. I tested Swift, VW Polo, Ford Figo, Skoda Fabia and Vista.
My ultimate decision was to choose the Vista for pleasant drive and value for money.
I am very pleased to tell you that my decision proved to be right.
The car has ample of space inside the cabin. Three big size passengers can be accommodated comfortably on the rear seat. It has good leg space in the rear as well as front. VX comes with the automated windows and electric mirrors.Automated mirrors is a great value addition as it is helpful when you are taking reverse in the unknown terrain.
Rear Wiper and defogger is definitely helpful when it pours hard. Wipers have seven speeds which you can choose as per the requirement. The barrel headlamps are properly placed so as to give good visibility to the driver for night drive. The adjustable focus of the headlamps is a very convenient feature and I choose whichever I feel adequate. The windows are soundproof and you can hardly make out that it is a diesel car.Engine is smooth as well.
The stereo system is a decent system with speakers in the front and back doors and tweeters in the front. The steering control gives you direct control of the volume, sound track, mode:(AM/FM/MW, etc.) I can virtually control the whole sound station without removing my hands from the steering wheel. Bluetooth is another great feature which makes your life easy if you have to be on call while you are driving.
The water bottle storing tray which is under the front left seat is a brilliant design. Even if the car is parked in hot sun, I still enjoy the cold water from the tray. Vertical adjusting seat is a great value added feature. This enables even short persons drive the car comfortably.
The safety features are carefully designed. I especially liked the clutch-press starting system where it is almost impossible for small kids to start as the engine won't start unless the clutch is placed. The other feature of safety is auto door lock when the car reaches the speed of 10kmph. If the autolock system does not work, That indicates door remaining open.
On highways, the car runs like a roaring bull. Very powerful engine indeed.The longest drive in a day I have done using my car is around 580 kms. You don't really feel tired even if you drive loooong distances in Vista. Seating is really comfortable.
Brakes and the ABS in particular are undoubtedly the greatest safety feature of all.
Pros: All of the above.
Cons:
Tatas claim that the average per liter is 22 KMPL. However I get around 17-18 KMPL for long drive with AC on.
The boot space could have been bigger. The bootspace does not have light either.
The thick front pillars could block your vision if you are driving / turning(especially right turn) in city or crowded road. You have to be extra careful while turning in cities or busy roads.
The cold water tray underneath the front left seat does not have locking arrangement. It tends to slip ahead gradually if you apply frequent brakes.
The horn they provide could have been louder.
So folks, as you could see, cons are not at all serious. Overall I would say that this car is surely value for money spent. Tata has made dramatic improvements in their services especially when you visit their authorized workshop.
To sum up, I would say, my car has certainly done well and is running great. Trust Tatas. they deliver value for money and service.
