I bought my Tata Indica LSi in July 2004. It is sparingly used, in Delhi: I have logged in 16000 Km so far. I find the interior space very convenient, although I wish the boot were larger. I get a mileage of about 13.5 Kmpl in the city without AC, about 12.5 with AC. I use premium petrol. With normal fuel, the mileage is slightly lower.
I have had a couple of problems: the ECU failed after a year, which I ascribe to my earlier habit of starting the car without allowing the system to stabilise for a few seconds after switching on. My battery failed a few days after the warranty expired: I replaced it with a bigger one.
The Indica's looks are the best among the comparative models. However, my AC is not very effective in hot weather. The independent suspension gives the nicest ride in its class, comparable to the Swift. I have taken it on the highway twice. Both times, I went upto 120 Km/hr on clear roads without any problem. I got about 15 Kmpl on the highway.I bought my car for 3.5 lakh, including everything. It is still the best bargain I could have got at the time.
