So what’s behind all this oozing energy and confidence ? Perfect Fitness of mind and body! And that’s where the gyms play a huge role in a woman’s life. With so much happening around, you bet I could’nt be left far behind and so I had a go at the Talwalkar’s gym.
At Talwalkar’s , my friend and I had taken a 3 month package each, which included exercises, a walker, cycling, dumbells and a steam bath. Then one day, I was advised by my instructor, a young girl, that a massage package would not only be economical but would go well with my exercising to tone up the slim body which I was about to achieve (in 3 months). WOW!! Fat, flab would be replaced by muscle tissue. Not that I was fat, but who would’nt want a fabulous figure ? So I went in for the Massage package too!
Truth is, although we were promised Air Conditioned comfort in the gym, we had to make do with fans atleast thrice a week. The same with the usage of the Walker and cycle--’’only on alternate days’’. But that was OK by me (in fact suited me fine), since I went to the gym only twice or thrice a week instead of 6 days. The massage was twice a week and priced at Rs. 115+/- for 1/2 hour (this being the reduced, package price).But the most frustrating thing was to enter the bath after a lovely massage and steam and realise that the Geyser had konked off.And that to in the wet monsoon weather.
But then the Good news is that the instructors do their jobs well and really make you slog. In my case, I had slimmed down at the right places and had a lovely well toned figure, in just 3 months and that too in spite of putting in only half the attendance. Funnily, I had also gained a little over 1 kg. although I looked slimmer. Probably muscle tissue is heavier than fat?!
Talwalkars is an old, trusted name for slimming, exercising, dieting consultations for women, as well as for body building, body sculpting for boys and men who crave to flex biceps and triceps and reveal those great abs...Salman-Hritik style. That reminds me..I was lucky to find myself working out with guess who ??? Madam Sachin Tendulkar! Quite flattering really...
But the Juhu branch of Talwalkars is one of the best branches, with a lot of space. Men and women have separate workout halls, very good facilities and very comfortable.It’s a no problem branch. From the Andheri Station (western Railway), it is just 10 minutes from the Cooper Hospital.The Sauna is available only for men, and Steam for women.The pricing factor changes with the seasons, vacations, etc.The present rate is Rs.6000/- for 3 months which includes the gym, walker, cycle,cardiovascular exerciser and sauna (excluding massage Rs.150/- per 1/2 hour or a package deal)
Well, I was quite satisfied with my 3 month affair with the gym, I had good results, the staff is generally quite friendly...So why not give it a try for FITNESS’ SAKES!
