I joined Talwalkars Fit and Active over 1 1/2 months ago; I am , of course, referring to the center that has recently opened at The Orchid City Centre at Mumbai Central, Mumbai. Earlier, I used to
work out at a hospital-based gym in Mumbai, and the attraction of joining a professionally run gym made me switch over to F and A. I got excellent results at my earlier gym too: I started with a weight of 87 and lost nearly 12 kg in under 5 months, a not inconsiderable achievement. Then, my life underwent a mini-crisis of time, and I skipped going for about three months. Come December, and I restarted my schedule, this time at the F & A at the OCC.
Everyone will agree that Talwalkars has some of the best equipments in town: the difference is in the way the coaches (trainers) will help us to use these machines and weights. The staff is very friendly and professionally very competent, but they arent all that attentive to someone who hasnt separately purchased "Personal Training" in the gym.
There are no time -limits, no limits to the no. of days one can use steam, no limits on what time of the day one arrives or departs and no limits on the kind of training one undertakes. However, there are certain hindrances like loud and thrumming music that not everyone will like, non-availability of cool drinking water within the exercise area everywehere except in one corner of the gym, the continuous footfalls of people leaving and entering that distracts the serious exerciser, and the lack of proper hygiene and cleaning facilities in the bathroom and changing areas.
I recommend trainers Padmakar and Deepak, receptionists Lavina and Swati and female trainers Harsha and Renuka.
