Reliability of GLX after 21000 kms

This is one more review of this good bike after 20000 kms covered in 1.5 years.

Definately I had too many options in 125 cc category but I purchased this bike on some factors

This bike met my expectations about a 125 cc bike category.

First thing I feel good that the Victor Engine is completely made in

India and not a single part has been imported from Suzuki and still its

quality is very very good as compared to some India products as well as some Indo Japanese models. It is also very reliable like a leading two

wheeler brand in India But Still I dont know why Mouthshut people has

mentioned it as 'Suzuki TVS Victor GLX'.

Even after 20000 kms, the performance of GLX is very good.

Mileage: The mileage in congested city like Pune is still 60 kmpl and on highways it is 70+ kmpl

Top speed: it is 105 kms per hour and its pickup has not dropped down and no vibrations till speed of 90.Very stable at high speeds.

Good Low end Torque:I can still ride at speed of 20 kms per hours on 4th gear in city traffic

The most best I like is VERY GOOD SERVICE FROM TVS CUSTOMER CARE

Very less cost on maintainence.I just have to change engine oil of 160 rupees after 2500 kms.thats it

So my calculated cost till now goes upto approx 90 paise per kilometer which is better in these days of inflation.

Reliability: I travel daily 45-50 kms in different conditions of

city, highway, and especially during night time on highway and in

different seasons but still no problems.

I recently had a trip from Pune to Goa on this bike (Through the costal

areas having rough roads and not on the Mumbai Goa national highway) without problem. This

shows the reliability of the bike.

GOOD HEADLIGHT BEAM:This is special characteristic of All TVS bikes useful for night riding on highways

Spares part availability:

I have not encountered this situation in 1.5 years but I have seen that TVS spare parts are available in market. But in case of my friend's Avenger, though this bike is popular than GLX but still he was not able to get a new clutch wire in Pune for three days

Ride quality: The gas filled suspension is very good for potholed/bad condition roads.I can use this bike as a mountain bike because of its suspensions.

In one stretch I have driven more than 250 kms many times without any problem and no backaches

May be many TVS products have flopped but I have noticed out that customer satisfaction index  for TVS bikes started increasing after launch of Apache, Star city.

1.5 years back I went to bajaj showroom to purchase Discover 125.Had a test ride and after that I didnt turned up to them after that and went to TVS showroom to purchase this GLX

I rejected Bajaj bikes and the boring Indo Japanese bikes and opted for GLX because after launching a cheapest product in market, few months later Bajaj come up with some other product. They launched discover 112 cc(The old caliber hoodibaba), 125 cc 135 cc, Now planning 150 cc, recently launched a 125 cc bicycle(9.5 bhp) and now planning to launch its powerful version called xcd sprint 125(same xcd with 11.5 BHP engine that is nothing but the same discover 125).This shows the instability in products. They just trap the customer in the price gimmiks and sell worst quality product.

Secondly the two spark plugs(DTSi) of Bajaj bikes are a maintainence problem. It is used for high performance These bikes give good performance at starting and if later on you dont maintain it properly, the performance degrades rapidly.Always remember that if you want performance, you have to have to maintain properly so maintainence cost becomes high as your two spark plug bike goes old.I have seen many discovers giving 65+ kmpl mileage initially but after 1 year they give merely 40 - 45 kmpl, Strained engine while climbing up a slope, False neutrals etc

Remember that the initial version of Pulsar with single spark plug is still better than a DTSi pulsar in terms of durability.

Another thing is that I dont often see a 3+ year old bajaj bikes on road in Pune where there are lots of bikes but I can see lots of splendors, rx 100, samurai and Victors(even  6+years old and in good condition). So what I guess that where are all discovers, ct100 gone and suddenly I see  many Xcds on road.

I think Everyone must know how long does a Bajaj product lasts!

Boxer and Caliber are still there running on roads but remember that it has word Kawasaki in it and not bajaj alone.

and guess what with what the xcd 125 will be replaced in 3 years with???

150 cc xcd or a 200 cc discover or a 300 cc pulsar?  :) :) :)

Plus they dont have resale value so the option remains is that exchange Bajaj bike with a Bajaj Bike only

One thing is that Kindly observe finishing touch of Bajaj Bikes and other bikes. You will compare  Bajaj bikes with star city or apache or passion plus you will find that they are somehow assembled, packed and brought to market. Platina, Discover and pulsar you will find that there is lots of open space between rear wheel and suspension and the seat and very less material has been used.XCD seat is not long enough for two persons.May be that it is the styling factor but it looks very ugly after bike becomes old by 1 year

TVS and HH do not do all these gimmiks to attract customers. They remain firm on their products which is a confidence for their customers and more of all they give quality products to their customers and they do not talk any nonsense to attract customers(109 mileage at cost of a 100 cc bike and 150 cc features)

Practically speaking this mileage of 109 is possible in only following conditions

1) steady speed of 40 kms per hour(Needs too much expertise. No 41 kmph and no 39 kms per hour)

2) no air resistance(practically impossible because when your bike is in motion the forces will definately act against you.You will not ride this bike on moon or mars)

3) weight on bike not more than 130 kgs(Not a gram more plus the pillon rider and rider must be stable seated on bike. Not a inch of movement from them.So should you have a seat belt kind of thing for two persons.I cannot imagine how a bike with seatbelt looks)

4) No brakings at speed of 40 and no gear changes.(can it be possible in city)

4) Straight roads, no bends and curves, ups and down slopes(Stop the traffic when you are going through any road.like a VIP person?Seems a good Joke right!!! )

Come on Bajaj please give realistic mileage figures on road!.We dont want mileage figures achievable in approx 2 litres of petrol and there are many misleading ads regarding this.

Ultimate moral is that dont go by the price gimmiks because saving 4000 rupees and getting a worst quality product lasting for 3 years is not worth.

look at the quality of the product, its value for Money, overall reputation in market, durability, maintainence costs

In all aspects GLX is a good value for money in long term and I think that Flame will do more better.
