I own a suzuki fiero 2001 model, My love for this bike has not died even after 11 yrs.
Why Fiero? I had a yamaha rx 100 earlier and I was looking for a bike of match to legend rx. No bike could impress me until One day I rode a friends Fiero and I was just amazed! I love Fiero because of following:
1]Excellent engine which responds as per yr expectation. Offers unmatched pick up with top speed of around 110-120km. Till date this is among the fastest bike in city traffic upto 160 cc segment.
2]Good gear box and clutch plate. Till date I find this as best feature of fiero even new generation bikes doesnt match.
3] Very good torque which eases the riding in city traffic. Less gear shifting is reqd. compared to other bikes. I always mange in 3rd and 4th gear. Rarely had to come down to 2nd gear.
4] Mileage of arround 50kmpl which is very decent in 150cc class.
5] Comfortablesitting which doesnt strain your back much. I ride almost 80 km every day. So this is a priority for me over looks. Low height of this bike gives a good grip on road.
6]Reliability: I have done more than 2 lac kms on this machine. So far I have changed the clutch plate twice( Original stock one was best which is not available now a days). rear break drum once, ring piston once (after 1 lac + kms).Chain sproket once. Thats all in 11 yrs apart from regular servicing!
7] It has a very sweet silencer which gives a good feel. I have put a K&N air filter and it just gives the right kick in sound when I am in mood to ride it fast and furious :)
Cons:
Things which I find need upgrade are:
1]Headlight doom : not sufficient light. changed to pulsar 150 round doom. Planning for fz doom now.
2] noisy speedometer: I dont like any sound from bike apart from engine vrooom.
3] Front disk will add to braking.( some Fiero model come with disk and self start )
4] Handle bar is very comfortable but I m looking for a stylish alternative without compromise on comfort.
I was looking for a new 150 cc bike from past 4 yrs but none of them could prove better than my old machine. Finally, dropped the search and modifying my Fiero for a sporty look.I hope this will solve my purpose to go for new bike.
