I bought TVS JIVE in april 2010. The auto clutch feature was the main attraction. Having used yamaha gladiator for 3 years, and just tried a test ride of JIVE I didnt wait a day to buy Jive. Though mileage was 65/67 range in 40-50 speed range, I have done some research. For those who think Jive was a bitter experience, note the following:-
Never see to that service is done by their service network. My experience was horrible.There are more committed mechanics outside.
Forget warranty.
Keep changing engine oil by yourself, or make sure that the oil is properly drained and changed.
Make sure that you buy oil from a trusted vendor - in my case I ignored TVS True 4 and started using SHELL advance.
Periodicity of oil change from 3500 to 4000 km
Better to clean the chain & sprocket with pressure water than washing the body.
Apply a coat of grease, then lubricate with fresh lubricating oil.
Check tyre air pressure.
Timing chain, adjuster and ignition coil replaced, even though they showed no problems.
By following these, I am getting an amazing mileage of 85.45 kms/ litre of petrol.

Further to the above I have gone a step further to add the following
- OIl change from normal multigrade oil to FULL SYNTHETIC OIL. This will reduce tear and wear, and extend drainage period above10000+. Little costly @ Rs. 800/0 per litre(Castrol Active).
