I had owned a Hero Honda CD 100 for 9 years and decided I'll go for a new bike before my CD100 starts giving problems. Unfortunately its the biggest mistake I made.
My CD100 was so much more smoother, handling was much better especially during turns I felts so much more secure on my CD100. Have u taken a look at the rear wheel from the back? Its so damn thin. Thats what TVS does to get more mileage...not improve an engine. What a farce.
The mileage I used to get on my 9 year old CD100 was far better than the Centra I have now. The worst complaint of all about the Centra is the seating. It gets so damn uncomfortable after a 20 minute ride or so and its not feasible for longer rides.
Another major problem is starting. I think TVS bikes are made for Chennai weather. I stay in Bangalore and this thing is so difficult to start in the mornings. After around 11 AM its better, but before that its really difficult. You have to give a lot of choke and kick and kick and kick. THen leave the choke for around 2 minutes while you ride the bike or it will go off. I think I am gonna kick this bike for good.
I am so dissapointed with the Centra especially when I compare it to a much older used bike which served me so well for 9 long years. I should have stuck to the Hero Honda brand itself who are the leaders in 2 wheelers, especially 4 strokes. I think TVS just made a hype about this bike and theres nothing worth buying the Centra for. The quality is very cheap. The plastics are what can I say ...very flimsy. The tool box cover is just pathetic..cant even close it properly. A strong tug will open it even if its locked. The horn button wont work properly unless you press it exactly parallely. I mean if you press it even at a slight angle from the top it wont. There are so many little things that actually make the picture big which TVS obviously doesnt care to address.
I would definetely not recommend this bike to anyone. For a first time bike owner it might feel good for a while till the small pains start kicking in. Dont waste your time and money. Get a Hero Honda bike or may be a Bajaj one( I havent tried a Bajaj, but I am sure it cant get worse than this)
