“Thank God It’s… Friday”

“TGIF”, located at MGF, is Essentially an American casual dining establishment offering a varied menu of appetizers, meals and desserts.
The décor of polished teak and brass with walls lined with memorabilia give the place a cheerful, yet cozy feel. Features like Tiffany lamps, red and white stripes, the racing scull suspended from ceiling and propeller over the bar can be found in any TGI Friday’s restaurant in the world. The music is trendy and punctuated only by the song and dance routine performed by the staff all designed to enhance the ambience. Already very popular with the masses for it’s great food, great portions (value for money) and great service, TGIF introduces interesting new dishes on the menu every few months. “ While our hot selling dishes stay on the menu, we introduce new dishes and remove not the very popular ones, thus giving our customers a varied taste alongside keeping their preference in mind”, informs Asit Sharma, General Manager. From the dishes which have been on the menu for long I would definitely recommend the “Chicken Vera Cruz” which is basically spice-rubbed chicken pan seared and served on a bed of rice topped with chicken sausage, peppers, red onion, sun dried tomatoes and toasted walnuts in a cream sauce- truly its decadent to the core. From the starters go for the “Original Chicken Wings” (Rs 260), cheese lovers could try the “Fried Mozzarella” (Rs 245) and “Loaded Potato skins” (Rs 350). The vegetarians would love the “Cajun Onion rings” (Rs 180) and “Friday’s Mushrooms” (Rs 250). Infact Friday’s Burgers, sandwiches and Pastas are a big rage with the kids. Anyway coming to the new dishes introduced “ Sizzlers” seem to be the latest trend this season. Apart from mocktails and cocktails like Jamaican Iced Tea and others TGIF has come with new dishes “ Sizzling Sauteed Shrimp”, “Sizzling Grilled Lamb” and, “Sizzling Cottage Cheese Steak”. I tried the “Sizzling Sauteed Chicken”, (Rs 350), served on a bed of melted cheese, spicy coconut rice along with red and green bell peppers the marinated chicken which is sautéed tastes brilliant. The star of the desserts however is the brilliant “Double Chocolate fudgy Brownie Sundae” (Rs 225), a huge American size portion, and decadent to the core. The newly introduced “More Than a cookie” was a bit sad as the Jumbo chocolate cookie was amazing and so was the Kahlua sauce but the salted butter immersed in it, simply ruined the taste. A good idea would be to replace it with unsalted butter or better still top it with Friday’s yummy butterscotch sauce and Iam sure it would be luscious. TGIF is open from 12 Pm till night. Service is excellent, be it our server Upasak or any other. A meal for two would cost around Rs 750.
