Swami and friends is fresh in my memory with the scenes from Malgudi days... with Master Manjunath and his friends. The first time i read this book it made me think back of my childhood and how well the
series on swami and friends in malgudi days was shot. Its actually the way the book has been written.... the description of a ten year old boy and his antics.... an indian version of Denis the Menace, but with a class of its own.All those who have read it, no matter what their background will relate to the book with more than a handfull of experiences of their own. R K Narayan has gone into the mind of a ten year old with such perfection that one could re-live their childhood as Swami. The description, to some might seem a drag, slow and uneventful, but to me that is what makes R K Narayan stand out from the rest. The simplicity of life yet the complexity of thought for a young boy makes me want to know more about swami. I have read many books by R K Narayan, Swami and Friends still remains the best book i have read among the other books authored by him.
