Guys this is part I.

As maddy pointed out to me, I haven’t written much about the contents of the book in this review . This is partI:)
Thanks maddy!

PART I
I had mentioned
to renuka that I will be writing reviews on Agatha Christie and P.G.Wodehouse.
But before that I would like to say a little something apna own master writer, R.K.Narayan.

When I was small, I loved watching Malgudi dys. U guys remember it? The little boy swami and his friends. I guess doordarshan stopped showing the show a long time back. then I think zee was it? started showing it for some time. But I was so happy when I realised that Malgudi Days was out in print. I was so excited about it that I pestered anyone whom i knew by telling them about swami and r k narayan.all my friends seem to mysteriously disappear as soon as I came around. eventually my friend rohit ended up gifting it to me. since then I’ve been collecting r.k.narayans books.

In this review i’ll be giving ull a short history about R.K.Narayan.

R.K.Narayan was born in Madras in 1906. and educated there and at Maharajah’s college in Mysore. His first novel Swami and Friends(1935) was set in the enchanting fictional world of Malgudi. Narayan wrote other novels like, The Bachelor of Arts(1937) and The Sahitya Akademi award winning The Guide(1958) which was later made into the movie, ’Guide’ starring Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman.

He also wrote other novels like one of favorites ’The Maneater of Malgudi’.

In 1980 he was awarded the A.C. Benson medal by the Royal Society of Literature and was made Honorary Member of the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters.
In 1989 he was made a member of the Rajya Sabha. In 2000 the government of India conferred on him the Padma Bhushan.
R.K.Narayan died in May 2001.
