Today there is no college, thanks to the bus strike in Cochin. I can write this review now.

The problem with this topic is that it is named Suresh instead of Suresh Gopi and most of the people
know him only as Suresh Gopi which even made me confused and making this review a bit late, but after seeing the photo, I became sure what the topic is all about. I hope atleast some of you know about Suresh Gopi.

Just from my experiences, I came to know how much Malayalam movies depended on him. Once, I highly wanted to see some action movies and I found that about 80 to 90% of the movies I saw were starring this man. This shows his importance as an action star in Maayalam movie industry.

Suresh Gopi has made most influence than any one else in Malayalam movies as an action hero. He started off as a villain, ending every film getting hit and kicked by heroes like Mohan Lal and Mammotty the last one I remember being ’’Irupatham Noootandu’’. His dialogue delivery was dubbed in those days. But still there was something in him more than what a villain character would have.

Just as time passed, he became a superstar with a ranking directly after Mohanlal and Mammotty. But the difference was that he usually played a police officer or an angry young man upset about the system and tries to change it. He also becomes a mafia don or some one like that at times, but whenever he was there, action was almost certain.

Suresh Gopi is extremely articulate and aware, though sometimes he talks like the police officer he portrays on screen. Unlike many other film personalities, he could speak on topics ranging from social issues to politics. I have heard that he was interested in politics earlier being an active member of the Student’s Federation of India or something. I’m glad that he is in acting now.

Suresh Gopi ’s first appearance on the movie screen was as a child artist in Odayil Ninnu (1965) which I have never seen and may not see ever. It was in 1997 that the National Award was shared by Suresh Gopi and Balachandran.

Powerful dialogues and good action scenes along with some thrilling moments were provided exremely well by this fantastic actor. He got that figure to support the fact that he is an action hero - you will know when you see him.

Whenever you need action and blasting dialogues, you can go and see a Suresh Gopi movie, the good ones are mentioned below and there are some poor ones too, like Mafia, Gangotri, Takshashila, Mahatma etc which had action, but no good story to support it. I am afraid that he may say ’’shit’’ even when it may come to the romance.....

Dreams was another one which didn’t even have action to support it. Meghasandesham is his only horror film, his latest one being Agninakshatram, seems to be a mixture of horror and action - nobody I know saw this one. I wonder why.....

Now Suresh Gopi is going to co-act with Mohan Lal in a new movie. The name of it, I forgot, but it is from Shaji Kailas and it may be rocking - I can smell some action there. Anything is to come, let it be faster.....

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

COMISSIONER
Films like ’Commissioner’ shows the dissatisfaction the people about the political and financial system of the country. Suresh Gopi plays police comissioner Barath Chandran I.P.S. who is a determined police officer on a mission. The most famous dialogue of Suresh Gopi was in this one, I think. It was somewhat like this - ’’Ormayundo Eee mugham?’’ (Do you remember this face?) etc. Almost all of the dialogues ends with the word ’’shit’’.

This phenomenon adds some good rhym to the sentence? Of course not - It was to get the attention of the people - a speciality that this movie had. Anyways that was a dialogue told to the corrupted people and it did create a revolution among the people who watched it and the result, as you would expect is a super hit to Suresh’s name. I have heard that the second part of this movie is to be made with the name - Bharat Chandran I.P.S.

EKALAVYAN
Suresh Gopi’s police roles continues in this movie as he is another police officer, this time he is against a monk, I mean ’’swami’’ who has all types of underworld connections and has all illiegal businesses including drugs and weapon smuggling. But he is a political figure respected by many people all around the country and our police officer will lose lots of energy in doing this job.

Another collection of dialogues waits for you in this movie. These dialogues makes this actor so special. The movie has some good action scenes along with the investigation. But I was a little late in watching this movie. It may be as I couldn’t understand the connection between the name and the movie. Anyways, this was a great one to watch.

KALIYAATTAM
The Malayalam version of William Shakespeare’s famous book ’’Othello’’. The story is about a Kathakali artist who is not very handsome, married to a beautiful woman. He doubts her just as in Othello. I didn’t find anything special in the movie even if the acting was superb.

The movie did win the national and state award, just like Ponthanmaada and Vidheyan did for Mamooty, but this one surely was better than them. The presence of Manju Warrier made this movie even better. Suresh Gopi is transformed into an entirely different man in this movie.

Some of the other memorable performances by Suresh Gopi.....

IRUPATHAAM NOOTAANDU - Here Mohan Lal is the hero and this man the villain.

ORU VADAKKAN VEERA GAADA - He is negative s Mamooty is the positive character.

RAAJAAVINTE MAKAN - Here he plays next to Mohan Lal as an extremist.

THE CITY - He is going to go one on one against the drug mafia active in the city.

RUDRAAKSHAM - Our hero saves a girl and is on the run from the gangsters 24 hours.

JANAADHIPATHYAM - Suresh Gopi is the chief minister who was an early police officer.

SUMMER IN BETHLEHEM - This time it is funny as well as sentimental in a single movie.

HIGHWAY - Suresh Gopi goes on a special investigation against one of the most dreaded gangs.

CRIME FILE - Another investigation, but with more twist and turns than ever.

TO SURESH GOPI - CONTINUE YOUR GREAT WORK. DON’T EVEN THINK OF RETIRING BEFORE ADDING SOME THING MORE TO THE VIEWEERS. WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU IN A SENSIBLE ACTION MOVIE WITH THOSE PIERCING DIALOGUES.....

AND THANKS TO YOU ALL FOR READING THE REVIEW. PLEASE DON’T FORGET TO RATE IT AND LEAVE SOME COMMENTS BEHIND BEFORE YOU LEAVE.
