Like all instant food lovers, I dig on pasta, noodles, etc. but I got a rude shock when I realised that Maggi Noodles and Sunfeast Pasta suddenly caused life threatening food allergy even in healthy individuals with no history of allergies. Both contain Flavour enhancer INS 627 and INS 631 or INS 635.
Read it on their label. I have had 4-5 episodes of terrible itching all over the body, large welts, rashes, choking of throat and itching in eyes. On one episode, my lips and tongue swelled and I had to be rushed to hospital. And mind you, I have eaten packaged food my entire life and developed this allergy only since last 1.5 years.....suddenly and just like that!
If we flock, may be the manufacturers stop using this agent. It is just to enhance the Flavour of MSG by up to 15 times. Nestlé and ITC can definitely do more than that!
