BROWN STAINS? WHAT BROWN STAINS?
Oct 15, 2001 09:23 PM 28851 Views

Cleansing Action:

First of all, I'm only HALF eccentric. One of my greatest challenges is doing laundry. I can hear you screaming, WHAT???

When my sons were still in diapers (wow, I can really remember that far back!), the disposable ones were not yet invented. Cloth was in! Actually, ''cloth was the ONLY diaper used'' and boy, how I hated brown stains! It just seemed like I was putting dirty diapers back on my sons - even when they just came out of the dryer. To eliminate these stains, I used more and more bleach until the diapers came out ''hospital white!'' I was a fanatic and that was my beginning!

To this day, even though I'm a grandma, now, I'm still fanatical about my laundry. (Oh, I HATE putting the clean laundry away. I love washing it, drying it, folding it - but I HATE putting it away!) (LOL)

Yes, I'm still a fanatic about clean whites. The slightest stain drives me into a frenzy. That caused me to begin experiment with different laundry detergents. I wanted the best made to wash away any and every stain imaginable. Not only was I buy the most expensive, but I was using more of it than necessary to try and accomplish my goal which was still an on-going game. Who would win: the stains or me? Who would lose: the stains or my budget?!

Finally, like almost every other household in America, my budget dictated massive cuts. No longer was I in a position to use the ''most expensive'' detergent. It was just as well, since none of the expensive brands cleaned to my satisfaction. I was literally pouring money down the drain.

While in WalMart one afternoon, I spotted SUN ULTRA WITH BLEACH. The 200fl.oz jug was only $3.99 so I decided to give it a try! WHOA! WAS I IMPRESSED!

Yes, even though it has a bleach alternative added, I used my usual liquid chlorine along with it, but the results were amazing.

First: the smell of the detergent is not a hard, soapy or chemical smell. It's perfumed to make the clothes smell like they'd been washed in a fresh water stream and hung on a line to dry. Even the detergent IN the bottle smells like the great outdoors.

Second: it's made to use in any temperature of water used in the washer. (However, I always use COLD for everything)

Third: the bleach alternative in the detergent won't harm colors. They come out bright and clean not faded or dingy.

Fourth: The cap is a measuring up so you can add the right amount for your laundry load. For extra soiled or stained clothes, an extra 1/2 cup of detergent is recommended.

Fifth You can pour on and rub it into any tough stain to pre-treat it before washing. The bleach alternative ingredient won't hurt your clothes by doing this.

Sixth You'll never find a suds build-up in your washer or on the clothes. SUN is made to keep the suds down and concentrate on the cleaning process of the clothes.

In addition to how clean my clothes get using SUN, I like the fact that its manufacturer, HUSH DETERGENTS, INC. doesn't test their products on animals. SUN contains no phosphorus which is great for the environment and it's biodegradable, which is terrific for septic tanks and sewers.

What began as yet another experiment, became the final chapter in my quest for a reasonably priced, reliable detergent that will actually get my clothes clean.

I guess this is one part of my eccentricity that can finally be put to rest! (MAYBE . . . . )(LOL)

Like with any household cleaners, there are, naturally precautions. Should this cleaner splash in your eyes, flush them immediatly for about 15 minutes with cool water. Should irritation persist, call you doctor. If by any chance, this liquid is ingested, drink plenty of milk or water and call the doctor immediately.
