Sula Vineyards is close to Mumbai so a weekend getaway to this place is good. This vineyard also has a dedicated Sula Tour where the guide explains how the wine is processed, right from the plucking of grapes to its final bottling. The final leg of the trip also includes tasting of different wines. The explanation part was "ok" considering i've seen better ones at abroad. But still this was a good experience. There were many foreigners who took an active part and were interested to learn more about these Indian wines as well as asked questions.
I had heard that Sula wines if bought at Sula vineyards would cost cheaper, but I didnt find anything like that. I purchased their famous "Sula Dindori Reserve Shiraz" and also Zinfandel.
Both were equally good, though it was not that sweet. I totally loved the balcony view of the Vineyards with a glass of their wine.
They also have a Wine Festival in February which is based on the famous Grape Stomping Festival abroad. I really liked the idea and the initiative.
Pros:
-Good place though on the outskirts(but thats where they can grow grapes)
-Helpful staff
-very well maintained place
-Array of tasty wines(especially the red wines)
-Beautiful view from the balcony especially in the evenings
-not much crowded
Cons
-nothing in particular
Final Verdict: I love the initiative and would totally recommend:)
