If you are an Investigative journalist or want to be an Investigative journalist then you must read “Stop Press” By Shree Surendra Mohan Pathak. You can find lot of encouragement, boost and knowledge from this novel. “Stop Press” is in the series of Sunil Kumar Chakraborty the chief Investigative Journalist of fictional newspaper “Blast”. Sunil is famous in solving the mysteries.
Mr. Malik, the owner of “Blast” newspaper ordered Sunil to meet Mr. Dilip Thapar. But before departing from Mr. Malik office, Mr. Malik advised him to take someone with himself because Dilip Thapar is goon Type person. Because Dilip Thapar threatens Sunil and Mr. Malik for writing against himself many times. But Sunil rejected the offer and stated the awesome philosophical comment that he could not do his job and duty with fear from someone threat. He used the below poetry to state his word:-
"Don’t Pull the Bow; do not take the sword;
When you're facing tank, publish out the paper. "
Sunil is investigating Mr. Dilip Thapar background from some days. He got to know that Mr. Harimohan Thapar was a industrialist of Rajnagar. When he died, he left all the property and assets to his grandson Dilip Thapar, in his will. But no one knows about the Dilip Thapar. Harimohan Thapar left his house in young age and married to someone. After the lot of search the trusties could not find Dilip Thapar clue. But before 2 months of time period of a detective agency which hire by the trusties announce the existence of Dilip Thapar. Now Sunil thinks that Dilip Thapar is a fraud and fake grandson of Harimohan Thapar.
Sunil met Mr. Dilip Thapar in his Jheri situated cottage. Mr. Thapar accompanied with Mr. Vivek Verma, his business partner. Mr. Dilip Thapar again threatens Sunil to not write against him in Blast. But Sunil had not effect of his threat. Hence after this, Dilip Thapar tied hands and legs of Sunil and closed him in a room with the help of his goons. Dilip Thapar gone away for the inauguration of a Casino in nearby Hotel. After Some time Sunil listen the intimate conversation and voice between a woman and man. But due to interruption the voices were stopped. A Man came in his room and tries to hide himself. Sunil blackmailed him and order him to open the knots. He stated his name as Vikram alias Vicky and He is in love with Kirti, wife of Dilip Thapar. Then from outside voices, he got that, Kirti hosting Vivek Verma and after some time she gone with him. Then after Vicky left the room also. Now, Sunil found himself without clothes, he searched for the clothes in the cottage but did not find any clothes.
Soon he heard the sound of sandals. Sunil caught by a girl. She asked for the purpose for being here. Sunil stated the whole incident and asked for the help. She stated his name Namita and she is sister in law of Dilip Thapar. She helped him to get the clothes from hotel and arranged some medical treatment and then after she again reached the Northshore House of Dilip Thapar with Sunil with the statement that his clothes not fitted to his body. She sends Sunil to the backyard to hide in yaat. Sunil hide himself in yaat and waiting for Namita. Sunil feels that there is someone also on the boat. When he gone steps forward, he found a dead body of Dilip Thapar. He founds some clue nearby the body but did not touch anything. When Namita came, Sunil stated everything to her. Namita cleared all the clues and stated the reason that the clues are referring to Kirti, his elder sister. She called the police and gone in the search for Kirti. Sunil called in Blast and asked for “Stop Press” column News and to stop the press for some while. He stated the entire incident to editor. Police came on the murder spot and according to Sunil statement, Police caught Namita for the murder.
After that Sunil tries to find out the real culprit and murderer. Somehow, Sunil was also suspected for the murders. You can see after reading this novel that how Sunil clear the murder charges from his head.
From this novel you can learn about Sunil, A Journalist or a person who refused to take someone with himself. Sunil shows guts to face the death threats. A journalist working Unselfish takes risks of his life to bring out the truth. No one stop him to bring out the truth while his life came in danger. You can see how Sunil pays respect to police personals but he could not down his moral against them.
Again Shree Surendra Mohan Paathak creates an awesome Murder mystery and very intelligent investigative story in front of us. The Whole story is a package of crackers with lots of characters, interesting investigation, unthinkable incidents and unthinkable results. Pathak Sir written the plot in very detail and on large canvas. Paathak sir backgrounds of people in details also, that’s keep you in story. The conversation between the Sunil and Mr. Malik in starting of pages makes you to hold the book until you finished it. This conversation is memorable and anyone got motivation from this. The characters Namita and Kirti got lots of space in the story while Vivek Verma and Vikram alias Vicky got normal slots in the story. The investigation skill of Sunil is amazing. The involvement of Arjun, assistant journalist and Mr. Anil Kapoor, sub inspector gives you some lights moments and smiles on your face. Somewhere in the story I think that Sub-Inspector Anil Kapoor will be the murderer because of his suspicious behavior. The story of Dilip Thapar ends very early, as I was thinking that it there is more fight between Sunil and Dilip. Sunil showed Sharp intelligence to clear murder charges against himself. There are no any weak points in the story because the flow of story is very high. So no one can’t put his mind outside from the story to think about the drawback.
I am thankful to Shree Surendra Mohan Paathak sir for writing such a great novel and giving chance to us to read it. I hope Pathak Sir will write more books like this. We will very happy.

Journalism is a profession in which adventure, mystery, discovery is all about. You can read this novel to find the best character of Sunil and learn from him lot.
