If you like Jackie Collins and similar authors then you will most probably like Starry Nights. Although not very long Shobha De has managed a reasonable stab at the genre of the Trashy Novel. I read it quite a long time ago and from recollection it has a concise plot that flows at a good pace. Starry nights is the best example of Shobha De's writing in this genre and this is largely a result of her having spent a lot of time reporting snippets about the film industry. The plot and the characters are largely quite realistic and if you are a fan of popular culture you can easily spot some of the real people behind the characters which is fun in itself.
Good literature you ask and I would have to say no. Entertaining - yes. Not very high brow but good to read on the beach or to while away the odd afternoon.
I borrowed the book from the library so I don't know what it costs. I wouldn't buy the book as its not worth it.
