One of my colleague recommended this Telugu movie to me and I decided to watch it for the simple reason that it has Chranjeevi in the title role and I like him. (Thanks to the subtitles in English, at least I could read what the stars spoke).

Director A.R.Murugadoss who gave us Ghajini has directed this flick. This time he picks up the basic idea from Kevin Spacey starrer PAY IT FORWARD but has converted the movie according to the taste of the regional audience successfully.

In Pay It Forward, a school boy Haley Joel Osment (remember Sixth Sense?) was given an assignment by his teacher: "think of something to change the world and put it into action", which was to do good to someone and in return ask him to do good to three other people and in return they (those three) should do the same to three persons each and so on.

In Stalin, Chranjeevi is a do gooder who makes an effort to make this world a better place to live in. He is happy to help others and tells them in return they should help 3 persons, so that a network of people can be formed, which will eventually change the face of the world.

Chiranjeevi who plays the title role of Stalin, has a past. He quit his job from the army because he was transferred to a department where he won't be comfortable. But after returning to his home place he continues to serve the people with his noble cause.

All was going well for Stalin until one day, when he conflicts with the daughter of the minister. She feels humiliated and wants her revenge. The minister, played by Prakash Raj joins his daughter to take the revenge.

Prakash Raj wants to leave no stone unturned to take the revenge and with the chief minister arranges a meeting with Stalin to compromise with the latter. But stabs the chief minister, accuses Stalin for the murder and declares him as a terrorist.

Stalin escapes with the injured chief minister and is now running from the men of Prakash Raj & the police as well. Mukesh Rishi who was instrumental in planning the transfer of Stalin in a different department in military, watches the news on TV about Stalin and decides to assist him.

There is a secret why the military has to plan Stalin's transfer to a different department, which I don't want to disclose. The last 20 minutes of the film are brilliantly done. In the end good wins over evil.

Full marks to writer-director A.R.Murugadoss for making this film with a mesage that a simple idea can make a difference to the society. He has balanced everything in the movie, there is no unwanted comedy, limited songs, family issues, etc.

The only thing that I didn't like much are the fight scenes. They are not bad but I couldn't digest one man hitting hundreds and all flying in air like birds. Too much. Barring this flaw, the movie is worth a watch.

The actress Trisha is beautiful and has done a good job. Her comic timing is wonderful. Prakash Raj this time played an old man and has done a good job once again. He is an excellent actor.

Khushboo as Stalin's sister who marries a sardar was ok and her husband spoke very few words in the movie. Sharda as Stalin's mother was good.

Chiranjeevi is the life of the film. Excellent performance from him. Its not a typical Telugu film, its bit different, zara hat ke for sure. For Chiranjeevi it should be watched at least once.
