Staff Selection Commission is responsible for the selection of posts in govt. of India mainly at the group B and C levels. Given the kind of unemployment in our country and sheer number of applicants for a limited number of posts, the commission has got a real task on its hands. From time to time there have been allegations of favouratism, nepotism and paper leakage. Sometimes we’ve noticed that the exams were cancelled due to all these very reasons. This gives a bad name to the commission and leaves some patches on the dignity of the Institution. Well, in totality the commission has done a great job in the job market. But, we need to ponder over one thing, why is it that whenever we approach any govt. department with some problem of ours, we stumble upon some of the babu’s who consider it beyond their dignity to get the problem solved, either without making us a spinster and telling us, Aaj yeh kaam nahi ho sakta, Kal aana and Aaj saaheb busy hai, isliye sign kal honge , OR by telling us Is kaam ke liye paach so rupiye lagenge . Are these the guys the SSC considers fit and recruits out of lakhs and lakhs of aspirants. Is this the cream of our new generation ? The SSC needs to give a very serious thought to this.
