She didn’t have the best figure on the block, had a terrible squeaky tamil accented voice...and yet.....Sridevi, like Mr Amitabh Bachchan, is the only actor in Hindi movies, thus far, who can carry a completely rotten film on her shoulders and make it watchable. Who can forget her performance in Mr. India, Chaalbaaz, Lamhe, Mundraam Pirrai (Sadma), Gumraah...etc, etc..not that all these movies were good...but Sridevi sure was! Back in the 80’s-90’s, where even the most beautiful heroines looked completely hideous coz of bad make up and wardrobe, sridevi managed to hold her own on the strength of her screen presence. I just watched Chandni recently, having first watched it when I was kid. Now, with a lot more of a critical eye, i realised it was quite a bad movie...but when Sridevi is on screen, you just get carried away and enjoy her amazing screen presence...the analysis and criticism only comes later after the movie, once she’s off screen!

Hope she makes a comeback in films....Bollywood sure could use a bright spark like her...not to mention she looks better now than she ever did when she was ’’young’’!
