I have done my schooling from say LKG to 10th standard in this school. So this review does not compare this with any other schools and focuses only about SSVM.
To start with, Sree Saraswathi Vidya mandira has 5 branches- Main school(lalbagh west gate), CKA branch, Madhavan park branch, Gavipuram branch and Kolar branch.
It was established in 1950 on 2nd of October by G.S. Sharma sir.
I'm very proud to say I have been a student of SSVM, an institute which molded me into the person I am today. We have had the best teachers who inculcated knowledge and culture to our young minds.
The syllabus is CBSE till 9th and state syllabus in 10th standard. This sounds weird though it is helpful for 10th standard, but the kannada and sanskrit text books are of state, so no problem.
There are various activities in the school including literary activities(conducted every year and includes creative writing, dance, music, vegetable carving, rangoli, painting, mad ads, drama, science talk, maths talk, debate etc.) which has prizes awarded and points to the group(red, blue, green, yellow) to which the winner belongs. They used to be fun and we would spend so much time practicing for it and most of them in the class would get to participate in one or the other event. There was healthy competition between the houses and tough ones too.
The best part was sports day, which until 7th standard is an interschool event(between the different branches of our school). I was bad at sports, though I would go to cheer for my school mates.
I would be conducted in a ground in Jayanagar as our school does not have a huge playground.
There would also be talent's day which had various events like singing, dance, yoga, drama etc and that used to be held in town hall, Bangalore and was the best days of school times. I would all the time participate in dance(classical) and was a part of drama group as well once.
Another event would be ISCKON's interschool fest which is held every year and more than 100 people would participate from our school every year for various events and our school bus used to take us to ISCKON every year for that.(There are school buses, but not for everyday pick up and drop, it is used only to take students to other places or events from school).
We would have educational excursion for a day every year and they would take us to Visveswaraiah museum and planetarium! Once we had been to HAL and once to some factory, I don't remember.
Recently our organizer expired and I don't know who handles all the administration and stuff. All nice teachers, experienced ones have left the school(I know who have left since I had been there for independence day celebrations, republic day and Gandhi jayanti). And as per my sister's junior, who will complete her 10th standard this year, the teachers are not so good and inexperienced and have very bad english accent it seems.(I can't comment much as I'm no more over there).
