I have never been much of a fan of carbonated sodas and probably never will. Sure, they’re supposed to taste good and all but I wouldn’t recommend them due to their high sugar content. The average
can of Sprite contains 38 grams of sugar, which is the equivalent of roughly 7 teaspoons. Now we all know that sugar is a simple form of carbohydrate and given the 4 calorie per gram of carb conversion, I arrive at the conclusion that a single can of Sprite contains 152 calories, all of which is derived from sugars.
Not exactly a good thing, if you asked me.

The average can contains approximately 325 ml, out of which 38 grams of it is sugar. Simple math would indicate it being an 11.7% sugar solution, not taking into account the host of other chemicals present. Check the label and you’ll find these other chemicals listed as: Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Citrate, Phosporic Acid, Citric Acid and so called ’natural flavors’. Sorry, but I’m that analytical when it comes to health issues. While it may be acceptable for me to consume this beverage in moderation, it’s definitely not something I’d want to have everyday. Simply put, Sprite is nothing but sugar water with a touch of lime to make it all taste better. Recommended alternative: Water.
