The Spider-Man mania is back with a bang…with triple excitement, triple thrill and of course, triple villains! Really, Spider-Man 3 is the best of the other two Spider-Man movies. If you liked Spider-Man 1 and Spider-Man 2, you’ll love Spider-Man 3!!
The story of the movie: Everything was going fine in Peter Parker’s (Tobey Maguire) life. He had finally got his love, Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst). He had also balanced his love life and his responsibilities as Spider-Man. The citizens of New York City were also appreciating his works. But he suddenly had to face following three villains:
The New Goblin i.e. Harry Osborn (James Franco), who wanted to seek revenge from Spider-Man for his father’s murder.
Flint Marko (Thomas Haden Church) who was the real killer of Peter’s Uncle and who had invariably turned into Sandman due to an accident when he was escaping from the cops.
Eddie Brock (Topher Grace), a rival of Peter Parker who also worked in Daily Bugle, and who changes to a dark demon, Venom.
And plus, suddenly, his spidey suit changes into dark black colour. Though it amplifies his powers, it gives rise to his dark side because of which he looses his character to some extent, and his girlfriend Mary Jane.
Spider-Man 3 is very different from the previous two parts. The movie deals more about Peter’s darker side, but that too is enjoyable and makes quite an interesting fare. What I liked most about the movie is that the director was in no hurry and slowly and steadily builds up the story.
The special effects and the action is another important reason which makes the movie a must watch. The special effects are never-before-seen and thoroughly enjoyable. Even the action was fantastic. Even Spider-Man 1 and Spider-Man 2 didn’t have such fabulous action sequences.
Peter Parker fits into Spider-Man’s role to the T! It seems that he was made for this role! He gives a completely flawless performance and his performance was much better as compared to the previous Spider-Man movies. And he perfectly portrayed the darker side of Peter. Great work, man!
Kirsten Dunst looks sexy and charming throughout the movie and also does a good job. James Franco looks awesome as usual and gives a great performance. He looked great in the Goblin suit. Thomas Haden Church went into the skin of his character and delivers a superb performance. Topher Grace was natural throughout and does a good job.
Bryce Dallas Howard as Gewn Stacy looked cute. Rosemarry Harris as May Parker does a good job. J K Simmons as J Jonah Jameson was as usual funny. Others did a good job.
Bill Pope’s cinematography was fantastic and never seen before. It was an excellent and if you even don’t like the movie, you’ll surely like the cinematography. The art direction was excellent and perfect.
The action sequences were outstanding and made the movie enjoyable. Ditto for the special effects.
Sam Raimi’s direction was perfect. The talented director, who also directed, part 1 and part 2, does a much better job this time.
Some of the best scenes of the movie:
The scene where Peter goes to watch Mary Jane’s stage performance
The fight scene of Spider-Man and New Goblin
The scene where Spidey suit turns black
The scene where Spider-Man saves Gwen Stacy
The scene where Flint turns into Sandman
The scene where Spider-Man fights Sandman in the underground (excellent scene!)
The Jazz Club sequence
The scene where Eddie turns into Venom
The last 25 mins of the movie and the fantastic climax
On the whole, Spider-Man 3 is a paisa-vasool entertainer. It has lots of action sequences, excellent cinematography, fantastic direction and applauding performances. Though it is a little longer than the previous two parts (the duration is 140 mins), it is an enjoyable fare overall. Not to be missed!
I am waiting for Spider-Man 4!!
