Spider-Man 2
’’Remember Peter, with great power comes great responsibility.’’

These were the famous words spoken by Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben in the first movie.
And, now in the sequel, Peter Parker finally learns the burden of this responsibility.

Directed Sam Raimi again, the film stars Tobey Macguire (Peter Parker) and Kirsten Dunst (the lovely Mary Jane) while also starring Alfred Molina (the evil Doc Octopus). Spider-Man 2 has already been a blockbuster hit, both in India and overseas.

The Plot
Peter Parker has now grown up. He however is struggling. Financially, mentally and as a hero. He now lives in a one room flat. He can’t pay the rent and gets chucked from one job to another. His friend, Harry Osborn, is simmering with rage with the belief that Spider-Man killed his father. He is also getting more and more distant with Mary Jane.

And in the midst of this, along comes Doc Ock. Intent on acheiving his goal (I won’t say what it is !), he will not spare anyone or anything.

Can Spider-Man bear all this burden ?

Acting
Tobey Macguire was wonderful. He looked super in almost all scenes. The scene where he stops the subway train from falling, is amazing.

Kirsten Dunst gets a nice role. She is mainly in the emotional scenes, where she is great. Her acting, though not amazing, is nice in it’s own way.

Alfred Molina is super. The transformation from a normal scientist to a maniac one is super with him. He is good in all scenes. However, he could have been even better in the climax scene.

Pros
I’m not going into the acting, plot etc because I already said they were good. Instead, I’m going to point out two pros which I loved. One was the emotional quotient. I loved the film focusing more on characters and emotions. Second was the portrayal of the villain. For the first time, the film showed Doc Ock more humanely. Even though he was a villain, you couldn’t help but feel sorry for him at times.

Cons
Even though, I liked the emotional quotient in it, some people may not. Also, the short role of James Franco irritated me. He only had two major scenes.

All in all, super cinema. Watch only to see the super CGI if nothing else !
