A no frills airline has got to be no frills after all. This is not meant to tear apart the lack of good/adequate hospitality on no frill airlines like Spice/Deccan etc., but just to point out some aspects
which are a must irrespective of a carrier being frills or no.
While travelling from Delhi to Ahmedabad recently, I did not have what one would call a very pleasant experience. It started with my having a toy gun in my hand baggage for my kid cousin. Now, the security guys told me to put it back in my check in luggage, but by the time i could go back to the check in counter, my luggage had been sent in. Most carriers have a policy of giving back the objectionable stuff at the airport of arrival. I was told that Spicejet specifically doesn’t have it. Fine.

Onboard, for about 25 minutes after take off, there was this extremely irritating buzzing sound coming from he left engine which left most passengers with worried looking faces as to what was happeneing. Obviously, the crew had no idea about it.
The crew on board were untrained. They spoke in bad english/hindi, which was difficult to understand. The least one would expect from any airline would be smart-well spoken crew etc.

I would not mind the cramped leg-room and the enough for survival food so much as I would mind attention to such small details. Also, the flight landed 30 minutes late and the carousel at the airport took 15 minutes to get the luggage.

One might say that these airlines are making it possible for the Indian middle-class to think about air travel and that is a good move. After all we are giving them business and they are also operating on simple economics, i.e, profit. So the compromise should not be on each and every aspect. Some level of standard is imperative.

No. of times flown on this Airlines: Between 1 - 3
Class flown most frequently: Economy Class
