It would seen a matter of minor concern, but as an airline client, one has some bare minimum expectations, especially the major one being

passenger SAFETY.

If you care even a penny, read on, for this is about your personal safety and that of other high-fliers. Have you ever cared how safe is your airline in terms of dealing with mid air medical requirements, if not, then better late than never.

It is time you take stock of the situation and plan your air travels. Keep a check list (it might sound too out dated) of your travel kits.

The most important one being, carry a first aid kit, for you never know. It is a must have utmost single item in your check list.

Heed my advice, or you might need a reality check to realize how grave a situation it might be.

It took me a while to register during my recent air travel, that what the air hostess was saying was in fact true.

I had sustained an injury in my right calf-muscle due to a motor cycle accident. Mid air I realised that I need to clean and dress the wound, since it was bleeding and also sticking to my trouser causing further discomfort.

I requested for some first aid (during my fly with Spice Jet Airlines flight no.211 on 18th of Jan 2008 en-route to Bangalore via Hyderabad, where I boarded) and after a lot of search on their part (they do not stand responsible) and repeat requests (3 of the host / hostesses had already approached me regarding my requirements), one of them came up with a bottle of Spirit (Dettol); no cotton swabs, no gauge, no dressing tape or any kind of adhesive, just the spirit.

Thankfully I had a supply of cotton and sprinkling powder. Now how to dress the wound? So I requested for band-aids (4 nos.), finally after much chaos and on my insistence (by now the flight had started the decent) they managed to provide 4 band-aids of two different pharmacy companies.

Alas! The purpose of this; one needs to take care; and as for those Airlines, please take heed.
