After lot of research I bought 40" Sony LED TV on 9th Jan 2012. I bought it from Girias Showroom( Bangalore) by paying a MRP price of 64900. The warranty card had a validity till Dec 2012.
The reason for buying a 40" LED TV from SONY was very simple. It's the Trust on the Brand Name. I thought for next 4-5 years( minimum) I will have a great Visual experience. But after paying such a High Cost( at least for me), I was shattered to see Horizontal Lines on the Top of the LED TV. The lines got more prominent from Jan 2015 onwards.
So I raised a complaint vide number 24992235 on 17th April 2015. I was told by the technician that the LED Panel has to be replaced which may cost around 20 to 25K.
Technically Sony has every right to disregard this case saying it's OUT OF WARRANTY.( As the 1 year time has already lapsed)
However my question is very simple. Can't we expect a SONY LED TV's life more than 2/3 years? While buying the TV, I compared all the 40" available brands like Sony, Samsung, LG, Videocon etc. Price of Sony LED TV was more than 12000 compared to the other brands. Still I bought it considering the BRAND and hoped that, the TV will have more Visual Life. I never knew that, Sony's LED panel will fail in such a short span of life. This is HORRIBLE. Not at all expected from a brand like Sony.
In the past we had a Dynora Black & white TV, AKAI & Sansui Color TVs at home. Even though these brands are nothing when compared to SONY but trust me those TVs actually lasted for 9-10 years without any repairs. So now a days even a Chinese brand TV will last more than 3 years.
Does that mean that, SONY has lost it's pulse in making the LED TVs with perfection? After my experience with Sony LED TV, I feel I was wrong in Selecting & Trusting this Brand.It's LEDs don't even last for 3 years. I am now forced to replace the LED Panel by investing a whooping 20000-25000 which I could have saved easily had a gone with a competitor brand. Hope SONY is listening!
What best I can expect from SONY now is that they should replace/service the TV free of cost so that they don't loose the customers like me. Waiting for this Great brand to revert on this .
