Truly a Pub!
Albeit when this place opened up it was something of a hotch-potch. The set is more on the lines of a small pub but was originally a disco where the youth (and the wannabe youth) went regularly to gyrate till the wee hours of the morning (Mumbaikars eat ur heart out).
Now after the much hyped Tantra, this place has reverted to the original cause.
It is truly a pub now with great music throughout the week.
Local groups like Hip Pocket (one of the best in Calcutta), Krosswindz and others play on weekdays. There used to be special days with offers for advertising people, I remember but don't know whether that still exists.
Also responsible for giving loads of young bands opportunities. Remember seeing a group of youngsters there called Soundcheck or sumthin', they were better than most of the established bands there. The music is amazing, bordering on Rock and Blues. Allman Brothers, Doors, Queen, ELO, America and the like.
Just one complain though, please stop playing ''Summer of 69'', and that's a request to every pub owner in the country.
There is no entry fee, liquor flows like water during the Happy Hour and even till much later. The cocktails are amazing. What might put you off though are the managing staff who feel they are the hippest of the lot (but the poor lot don't realise they just work there).
Bartenders are better, with good drink sense and better conversational sense. Though the someplace else veterans have been moved to Tantra now. The televisions however could concentrate on just sports instead of muted music channels, doesn't make sense that way.
Great place to be in, slightly expensive but get there by 8.30 to order your drinks.
Hic!
