When you’re in college, you try your best to purchase the most inexpensive stuff you can find. From food to books to alcohol, you become a bargain hunter extrordinairre.

When it comes to alcohol, Smirnoff Vodka will top your list as the alcohol to buy. Identifiable by its long neck and red label, Smirnoff is one of the most inexpensive vodkas you can buy. Some containers are actually plastic!

Unlike Everclear, which has virtually no taste, Smirnoff is rather bitter. To tell you the truth, it’s probably the most bitter vodka that I’ve had. That’s why Smirnoff is a good vodka to use when mixing. Many people enjoy using Smirnoff in their Screwdrivers. Personally, I prefer it in a fuzzy navel, which helps balance the sweetness of the peach schnapps.

Smirnoff, like many other vodkas, originated in Russia. The Smirnov distillery was founded in the 1860s, and Smirnoff vodka has been in existence ever since. As pointed out to me by George Chabot, Smirnoff is now distilled in America. It’s also distilled in many other countries, and distributed throughout 150.

The Smirnoff website is terrific! They have 365 drink recipes for Smirnoff, which allows you to get a new one every day of the year. They also have Smirnoff’s history and heritage, a discussion board, and many other cool things.

Smirnoff isn’t my first choice for vodka, but it certainly is up there. I would never drink Smirnoff straight, though. I’ve seen to many people shoot it and turn various shades of red. But, if you’re mixing it with sweet stuff and don’t have a lot of money, Smirnoff is definitely the way to go.
