Small Is Beautiful: A Study of Economics As If People Mattered is a wonderful collection of essays by one of the renowned British economist Mr. E. F. Schumacher. The book is very wisely crafted into Four(4) parts such as "The Modern World", "Resources", "The Third World", and "Organization and Ownership". The timing of publication was spot on(1973), it was the time of energy crisis and advent of Globalization. The key attraction to me is Schumacher's philosophy is one of "enoughness", appreciating both human requirements and limitations, and appropriate use of technology. It probably was the outcome of his research on village-based economics, which he later termed Buddhist economics, which is the key content of the book's fourth chapter. A must read of all who love to understand various dynamics of economics.
