Dear Friends, I have ugly working hours in Bangalore. Yesterday I went to Citrus cafe in Lemon Tree Hotel in Electronic City at around 12:30AM. I was very hungry and found out on net that there is only one late night eating joint in or around Electronic city. i.e. Citrus Cafe. Now I've been to Citrus three or four times earlier. But every time I went for there fabulous buffet Dinner. At Rs. 300 + Tax it's a treat.
Anyways Once I reached I was greeted very warmly by reception staff and the restaurant staff. It was checked ifI am staying with the Hotel. I said I am just a hungry passenger. I was presented with the menu. They have a selection of Items in there menu for late night hogging. I had to choose from Burgers, Sandwiches, Biryani & and assortment of non alcoholic drinks. I ordered a Veg Biryani and started waiting. On each table they have kept unique plastic bases. There was funny and informative material on it. I read all four of them. There were Two LCD screens both were playing wrestling in mute mode.
I was the lone ranger waiting for the food in the whole restaurant. There were just two waiters, who were taking rounds in kitchen and putting leftover utensils back from the buffet. There was one staff on the cash counter. While I was waiting I noticed that There were 3-4 calls which came in to order food from different rooms of Hotel. I think one customer also ordered alcohol is the room. Anyways the idea of telling you all this is that so far I've waited for about 45 mins for my biryani. I saw the Cash counter fellow going in the kitchen as there was no one around. I asked him to check up on my order as well. This guy asked pretty loudly from the kitchen door itself.
I could hear him and I also heard the response (It was in English).. "All the guys are eating daa..Tell him two minutes". The cash counter fellow came and told me what I already knew. After about another 5 mins my food came. It was a very pleasant site. The biryani was very fragrant and hot. The vegetable salad was fresh and meticulously chopped. Raita and gravy had just the right temperature and spices. I loved the raita specially. After eating heart-fully (Remember I was as hungry as a hog). I asked for the bill. The bill was presented promptly, to my amusement it was a hand written bill on plain paper.
I remembered that While I was waiting for my food the cash counter guy took out 3-4 bills from the printer through computer and sent them to front desk through another guy telling him to give it there for filing. I asked him what happened to computer, he told me that they have closed the computer billing for the day. I didn't created any fuss as within my heart I was blessing them for providing me with such great food at such odd hour. I still have that bill of Rs. 295 with me which stated 260/- for biryani and 35 for tax, with me if anyone is interested to see. I seriously think the bill money and taxis not going to hotel and Govt. respectively.
All in all it was a great experience.
