Well, frankly speaking this was my view about Air Deccan since its launch but all of it changed with to and fro travel from Delhi to Chennai by this. Read on...

Following is my experience of Air Deccan and I will tell you how to make best out of it.

Booking Ticket
There are several ways to book Air Deccan ticket, like through Agent, by Calling Air Deccan, or by Internet. I think best way to book ticket is through internet, if you have credit card. Its very simple, easy steps to book ticket and at the end of it you can just take print out of the ticket.

If you cannot, just note down the PNR number.


Preparing to Checkin
Well, I went to wrong terminal for checkin and hence spent extra time with all my baggage to go to right terminal.

So, Ensure that you ask Air Deccan people, what terminal the flight will depart from.

Checkin & Boarding
I Went to palam airport with just the printout of the ticket, and headed straight to the AirDeccan counter.

They took my printout, asked for my photo id (Dont forget this), and gave me the boarding pass. As simple as that.

After some time, Security was announced and I went inside waiting for boarding.

Here I saw some mismanagement, confusions in AirDeccan staff.

First they said it was on time, then they said its 30 mins late and after that time, there was no announcement.... and it was all messy.

I contacted them again and again, they said aircraft has not landed...yet.. but were not ready to announce this to public...

They should improve services of ground staff, specially at Palam airport.

Inside Airbus
My biggest worry is whether I will get my seat of choice of not. Since Air Deccan has a free seating system, you have to make efforts to get a good seat.

Following are the guidelines
1. First find out if boarding gate is from ground floor or first floor.
(Ground floor would mean that bus will carry you to Airbus A320 and first floor would probaby mean that you will be directly entering into Airbus)

2. If you have to go by bus, ensure that you take first bus and be seated around the gate, so that you are among first few to get down and climb into aircraft.

3. If you are boarding directly into aricraft, you have to be among first few in the line.

The Airbus was new, and very well maintained.


Flight
Flight was extremely good and very comfortable, as good as any other international flight. The AirHostess (4 were there) were also good and co-operative.

But another bit of advise, do carry a water bottle, as they take some 20 mins before providing water bottle and snacks (on payment basis).

There was inflight entertainment, but surprising part was that TV was shown, but there were not ear-phones.. after some time, a lady was found to be selling ear-phones.... thats strange....

Over all, I liked Air Deccan very much and this will be my prefered air lines in the near future, Its a true value of money and they are growing fast.
