Story-wise, the movie doesnt even come close to the quality of ’’The Sixth Sense’’. When I saw the title ’’Signs’’,

and the crop circles, I thought Manoj Shyamalan would be giving a new concept or meaning to the ideas circling

the crop circles. The unexpected climax usually seen in Shyamalan’s movies is missing. I had the impression

that the Signs would play a much more important role something of a cosmic proportion, but in the end they

remained just that - Signs. It clearly feels as though Shyamalan had some or too many ideas, but didnt know how

to put them together. The plot is a little too fragmented. The idea of the Reverend(played by Mel Gibson)

getting back his faith was good, but the situations and circumstances fails to convey the importance and the

power of it.

But where the movie lacks in story and coherence, it makes up in generating the haunting,dark mood.
It has some really good visuals(particularly the aerial shots), and camera work. The performance of all the

cast are truly exceptional. Hats off to Mel Gibson, Joaquim Phoenix, Rory Culkin, Abigail Brelin, Cherry Jones

and all those who worked behind the scenes. It also features a good soundtrack accentuating the film’s dark

nature. Taking all things into consideration, it is sad that the movie doesnt live up to all the media hype.
