So, where were we...yes, it was day 6 of our 19000-rupee adventure and we were still waiting for the Siemens man to come in to fix our machine and we were not happy. Day 8 brought the Siemens Man to our
flat and he went about his job very efficiently. He fixed the machine up quickly (my son was disappointed with what emerged out of the thermocol and promptly started playing Carpenter with the thermocol). He explained all the features to us (it is quite a simple machine with just a couple of main controls) very politely, did a brief demo of sorts, tried selling us a dust cover (which we politely refused), accepted a glass of water we offered and refused a tip we gave him. Okay, after a visit by our plumber (because of a leak in the incoming line), we were all set to start using our Siemens machine. It has been running beautifully though the only problem I have is that it takes nearly 2 hours for the washing to finish even for a medium sized load. I have used front loading machines abroad and they always seemed to take only about 35-45 minutes. Of course, those ones made much more noise. This Siemens 2020A is almost noiseless. The washing is quite good and I am able to dump 2 days worth laundry of a 3-member family (including a child in his terrible TWOs) into this five and a half kilo machine. I dont know about about power consumption, maintenance in the long run and anything else since it is too early. If there is something bad I notice, be sure that I will write part 3 of this Odyssey.
