Oh good old Marathi movies. " SHYAMCHI AAI" is one of my favourite movies. This movie is an adaptation of Sane Guruji’s book of the same title. Sane guruji was a teacher and also a freedom fighter. He was very close to his mother, who incorporated the right values in him (at times even punishing him very hard). In his book he has narrated these incidents which are so moving that you really cannot hold back the tears while you read... Prahlad Keshav Atre (Alias Pra. Ke. Atre) decided to adapt this book and made a beautiful feature film based on this book. 
      The main cast of the film includes, Prabodhankar Thackrey, Vanmala Shiledar (Shyam’s mother) and Madhav Vaze (Shyam). The music is great, the direction is too good and till now I have not come across a single person whose eyes have not moistened after watching the climax of the film. 
      Regarding the music of the film my personal fav are, Bharjari ga pitambar..., chhadi vaje chhamm chhamm and aai, in that order. 
      Some old marathi movies that I would recommend Sant Tukaram, Shikleli Baiko, Maratha tituke melava, recent would be Shwaas, Aga bai arrecchha(fun film -similar plot as What women want but in typical marathi style, but original music by AJAY-ATUL is mind blowing).
