People generally don't opt for lesser known brands when it comes to heavy electronics like Refrigerators and Washing Machines but sometimes we are on a tight budget and are forced to do so. Recently we replaced our old Sharp refrigerator with a new LG model because of the unceasing troubles the refrigerator put us throough.
My dad bought a new Sharp SJ PK45M refrigerator slightly more than a year ago from a wholesale dealer. The refrigerator costs us around Rs.40, 000 and worked a charm for the first few months. Soon enough, the reality dawned on us. But before coming to that, let me specify the features of this refrigerator.

3.) Number of Doors - 2
4.) Defrosting Type - Frost free
5.) Energy Saving Rating - 4(Bee Star)
6.) Glass Shelves type - Tempered
7.) Warranty - 1 Year Manufacturer warranty
Going by the specifications, the refrigerator turns out to be an ideal budget refrigerator compared to its LG and Whirlpool counterparts, which costs a several bucks higher. However, this refrigerator gave us more headache than cooling.
Deep Freezer Problem - After exactly four months, one of the most frequent problems we used to face was with the freezer. Often, the freezer would be filled with ice and the defrost system never worked. We had to manually shut down the refrigerator for several hours so as to allow the ice to melt which in turn hampered many vegetables and diary stuff. However, no matter what we did, this problem never seemed to get solved as everytime we removed the ice from the deep freezer, it would again form a thick layer after a few hours.
Refigerator Light Fused - One fine morning, I had been stuffing the water bottles into the refrigerator when all of a sudden the light of the refrigerator went off. Since I had kept the door open for like five minutes, I initially considered it to be a Self-Power-Saving action of the refrigerator but later realised that the light had fused. And it had been only a few months. Not even the warranty period was over. Without light, it became extremely hectic to locate things especially because the room we had put the refrigerator into had minimum sunlight approach.
Frequent Shaking - Sometimes I felt, this refrigerator was haunted. Six months after its purchase, while we were already dealing with the two problems, the refrigerator brought out a new one. Often, it would start vibrating all of a sudden and make an annoying noise. When we called SHARP company complaining about the problem, they asked us to minimise the amount of stuffs within the refrigerator. We did so but in vain. After a few days, the problem vanished itself.
Gas Problem - As if this wasn't enough, on the ninth month of its purchase, our sweet refrigerator stopped cooling anything and a terrible smell evoked out of it, everytime we opened the door. I want to specifically mention SHARP's customer service at this point. First of all, they lack the discipline to even listen to their customers. We used to call almost ten times daily and all they did was listen half of our conversation and cut their phone. They never responded. It was really irritating. I don't know whats wrong with this Company or whether it's the entire company or some few lazy individuals who are spoiling the company's name. Forcefully, we had to consult a local electrician to fix the refrigerator. Soon we found out that the cooling gas supposed to last for almost five years minimum had got replenished in just less than a year in our case. Wow!
Compressor Gets Heated - Last but not the least, after a little more than a year, the compressor got heated and blew off. The compressor comes with a Five Year Warranty and the dealer gave us an option to replace it but my dad had had enough with SHARP already and we all collectively decided to replace it with a new LG model.
This is a message to SHARP Company - Please put your customers satisfaction beyond any priority. If you people be a little attentive with the customer support, it would be really helpul for customers buying your product.
Till then, I definitely not recommend it to anyone. Instead a few more bucks for a better known brand like LG and Whirlpool will be of a lot convenience.
