I like Ekta Serials

I have read most of the reviews written in this section, everyone seems to be critising Ekta. I am going to be a bit different, I am going to discuss the positive points of Ekta’s serials. I actually like Ekta’s serials. In my opinion I think she does good quality work.

Designer clothing.

This is one of the biggest plus points of her serials. All her female actors are always dressed in designer gowns/salwar suits/sarees with dangling earrings and trendy haircuts and colour. Her serials promote great fashion. From the street of Southall to the corridors of college’s people are imitating her fashion. Not only that even when you are shopping in Asian shops you are bound to hear the sales assistant say this is the jewellery/dress, which Parvati was wearing or Prena was wearing, or Kasshish wore in her wedding.

Original concept.

Her serials are original she doesn’t copy other serials from different banners. For example Ek Ladki Anjaani Si produced by Shreya Creations the concept is lifted from a foreign soap also Jassi Jaise Koi Nahin carbon copy of Ugly Betty. Her ideas are unique, she does repeat the same storyline in almost all her serials BUT they are her own ideas. I have not yet come across a storyline that she has lifted out of another serial in a different banner.

Unrealistic story line.

I think this is the fun about her serial. If she conveys the day-to-day events in a normal persons life. This is how Parvati’s life would be: Parvati wakes up in the morning before everyone else – does puja pat – cooks for everyone – after breakfast – kids off to school – Om off to work – Parvati watches tele – cooks, eats – Om back from work, Kids back from school – Parvati helps the kids with their homework – Some romance with Om – they all have supper – everyone’s back to bed – next morning procedure repeats. Sounds boring, doesn’t it. By adding unrealistic situations she create interesting storylines and keeps viewers glued to the tele.

Uses Plastic surgery as an excuse to replace an actor.

Well we all have the right to leave our job. If the lead actor receives a better offer elsewhere they are bound to leave, but the show must go on. There are only three options left for her in this scenario:

1)      Plastic surgery – to replace the actors

2)      Lead Character dies – the soap will probably have to end, with a premature ending.

3)      With a short introduction at the beginning to introduce the new actor – this will make the  character feel fake.

There aren’t many options; the best option from my point of view probably would be plastic surgery.

Better actors

Ekta has the knack of picking the best performers and the best couple. Almost all her actors do justice to their role. They portray all emotions honestly, sometimes I forget that a scene was directed, it sound so real! She definitely pairs up couples with great thought; her couple’s look so sweet together especially Shiv and Gauri(Jodi made in heaven).

Compared to other serials where you have actors, who can barely act, but are playing the lead character.

Dialogues.

The dialogues are meaningful and convincing. People can relate to it. The comic dialogues are funny and wonderfully delivered by her actors. I love Trishna’s comic acting and the dialogue she says are definitely funny.

I do agree that sometimes she does exaggerate far too much, but I must say her storylines are far better than others I have seen.

Please do comment on my review, I welcome critisms.

Thank you for reading.
