Sanjay Gandhi National Park was previously known as Borivali National Park Situated in the northern part of Mumbai city in Maharashtra State. It is notable as one of the major national parks existing within a metropolis limit and is one of the most visited parks in the world. It has rich flora and fauna and attracts more than two millions tourist every year. Tourists also like to visit in Kanheri caves which is 2400 years old sculpted out of the rocky cliffs which lie within the park. This is one of the attraction points for the visitors.

The park was named'Krishnagiri National Park' before the Independence, after Independence it was names as Borivali National park by adding an Independent unit of forest department.  In 1981, it was re-Named as'Sanjay Gandhi National Park' in memory of Sanjay Gandhi, the son of Ex-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who was killed in an air-crash in 1980.

The park is a bustling forest, with an estimated 800 types of mauve. The park is home to a number of endangered species of flora and fauna which are getting extinct day by day. You can enjoy boating, can go for lion safari and tiger safari, you can visit Jain temple situated inside the Park.

The Park entrance is located in the eastern section of Borivali, 0.9 km(0.56 mi) from Borivali station, which is 40 km(25 mi) north of Mumbai Central station. I will highly recommend everyone to visit the natural beauty and enjoy the forest world through this medium.
