I just bought the Samsung Bordeaux Art 32 incher. And I am love...sigh! If there was ever a device which was a perfect marriage of Style and Substance...it is this. I typically do a lot of research before putting money on the table for something like this...and I haven't seen anyone say a bad thing about this telly. But the real check happened at the TV showrooms (and Mumbai is TV showroom heaven!). The only other telly which came close (in the same price range) was the Sony V300 Bravia. But where the Samsung scored over the Sony was "the look". I think enough has been written on the clean lines and smooth curves and the blemish-free design of the Samsung...so I will not wax eloquent on the same... but actually seeing it in your living room, makes you want to throw out every piece of furniture or equipment you have.
The menu is easy to use, the remote is lovely (with a great "backlight" feature), there are hundreds of controls for the OCDs (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) to tweak the picture to the minutest detail. Not that one needs to...it looks beautiful out of the box. There are three picture modes one can switch between instantly - Dynamic, Standard and Movie. And one of these three typically suffices for what you are watching. The inbuilt TV-tuner is great even with cable TV images...enhancing the typically desaturated colors of HBO to perfection. The TV is great...and to maximise it's potential...I suggest the following:
1) An upscaling DVD player - which upscales normal non-HD DVDs to 1080p - which is the top HD spec. I have a Sony upscaling DVD player - NSHP50 - and when I tried "Apocalypto" - the results were staggering. I just sat there in disbelief on the fact that I lived with a CRT for all these years...
2) A home-theater system - though the Samsung's sound is not too bad (when compared to other LCD tellys) the beautiful pictures deserve much more beautiful sound.
3) Send your wife to and children (or husband and children) to "Sasuraal" - you need time alone with this telly. :p
This is great buy...and if you are thinking of a 32 incher LCD...look no further.
