I bough this phone couple of months back for Rs.20000. Prior to this I had the Nokia 5800 music express which I gave to my mom :). At the first look I found this touch phone to be goodlooking, light and slim. The red stripes on the back cover were eye catching. It has a 5mp autofocus camera with flash which is really good. The amoled display is clear and bright and you can actually make out things even in sunlight. The finishing of the phone and the fittings are really good. You wont find any edges or loose areas on the body.
Coming to the OS, it has and Android based OS/firmware. I was able to find apps for this os easily on the net. On the main screen you have the widget side slider, from where you can drag and drop all the widgets. One nice thing about the os is that it has three desktops which allows multiple widgets to be added without the desktop being clogged.
When it comes to browsing, the default browser is pretty good. Its fast and hassle free. I also installed opera mini in it but found the default browser much better. The sound and the signal reception quality is very good. However the external speakers were a little disappointing. The phone has an inbuilt accelerometer which works really well. There's however issues with the motion gate/cube thing wherein you make motion simulations to get things done., for example if you jerk to the right while the music player is on the next song is supposed to play, but that hardly happens. I hope the next version of os/firmware fixes this. Since its an Android based phone there is still a lot more coming with respect to the os. I also found the vibrator not very effective and tend to miss calls at times when the phone is the vibrator mode.
Coming to the processor , it has a very good and probably the fastest processor in the market. Working is smooth and apps do open up really fast (even though rarely it hangs, not the phone but the apps).The phone has good accessibility with regard to the placement of the buttons. The sound buttons are on the left side, Camera button and the motion cube buttons on the lower right side and the lock button on the upper right side.
One interesting feature in this phone is the fake call. You need to press the reducing sound button the left side for like 2 seconds and that's it. You receive a call, a fake one after a minute or so. This may come handy in situation.. well.
Overall the phone is very good and Samsung has done a great job with the S8003.
