First I thought there is no reason to write a review as Jet is already a flop model and not many are buying it. But with the recent launch of Jet 2, I though review might help some who are planning to buy it.
A big'No' to samsung jet. These are the reasons:
The OS is samsung's proprietary. It doesn't have any support and there are absolutely no free applications/games given/developed by samsung. So once you get it to your hand, you are on your own and should live on applications that are developed for other mobiles - If you want a similar phone from samsung, consider S8500 Wave which has Amoled Screen with Bada OS(again samsung proprietary, but samsung is supporting this OS, and applications are developed too) or other Nokia/Andriod phones
Limited SMS. Once my SMS inbox reaches 200 messages, it cries to delete some messages. You do not have the option to store messages in SIM/Phone.
No option to copy and paste. A big drawback in a smart phone.
The phone hangs at times. I have upgraded my firmware, but no use still.
Sometimes when working on internet, it says "Not enough resources. Close some applications". The same message appears even while doing Multi tasking. You have to restart the mobile to solve this problem.
All the games given with the phone are trial versions. It prompts to buy them. This is the height of all. When they say it is a smart phone, can't they provide one good game which leverages the touch quality and motion sensor?
No installed GPS Navigation software8. The applications available are very basic. For e.g, the calculator is very basic and you don't have scientific calculator or anything. All the applications given with the phone are easily available with some of the basic nokia phones. There is no out-of-box application that makes this phone a must buy.
Limited Customization options.
Even samsung service centers are not that many in the city, and they are not updated with new firmwares either
Samsung has recently launched Jet 2 which has no changes from initial Jet. My personal opinion is that to sell off initial Jet, they have upgraded only the firmware(and nothing else) and are selling in the name of Jet 2.
Positive points were already talked about - its amoled screen has allured me to buy it.Music quality is very good and you can download some HD videos and view it in this mobile without losing quality. Camera is ok. Touch quality is good. Other options like 3G, WiFi and Multi tasking are available.
The bottom line is that It is no way a smart phone. Pls look for some other phones with Amoled Screen and good support. For a similar price there are many good options in the market, and this phone is dying with lack of support/upgrade.
